Name change on bill

Why is it so hard to make a name change on a bill?  My husbands name was on the bill, we get cable from our HOA, I lived here as well as him.  He passed away and they told me I had to have a new account number which caused them to completely blow away my old account and create a new one !!  I lost email contacts and well as my email address .  This was a big headache to me !!  It too me over two weeks, many trips to my local office, and paying an independent to come in and set it up for me.  I am not happy with Xfinity .

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like your getting a lot of conflicting information here.
