According to Telecompetitor : Comcast offers Internet connectivity via a cable modem for $10 a month to low-income households.
That has been around for a while here. That being said there is a few requirements
A) Has to have a kid on the free/ reduced lunch program
has to meet income requirements on top of having kid on lunch program and show proof
C) No one in the household can have a bad comcast bill
D) Can not have internet within the last 90 days ( no matter what plan ect.)
Thank you for your prompt and courteous reply. It is truly a shame that their is not a similar program for senior citizens on a fixed low income. Living in the lowest five percent income bracket as a Disabled Veteran, does nothing but allow one to live in abject poverty; exconvicts live on more than I, and qualify for more asistance. I suppose that is more in line with our societies mores and concious.Thank you again for your time and efforts on my behalf. Thank you for helping the young people and giving them the oppurtuny to achieve a positive goal. I don't suppose people who are on the way out don't need assistance financially, I spent two years fighting a war that wasn't a war and left it with the same obscurity as I will live this life. I did recieve something for fighting for my country; cancer and PTSD. As a great American statesman said," God helps those who help themselves." Semper Paratus or was that Semper Fi, who knows and who cares.
I would ask if danchest1947 can tell us where to find information about that.
I have found one that requires applicants to qualify under all of 4 specifications.
One of those is that you have to have a school aged child who is eligible to participate in a free school lunch program. Another requirement is that you not be a Comcast subscriber for at least 90 days prior.
With not being able to find the information in the open to the public sections, Comcast is being a CON-Artist by offering something that few can know about without already being a subscriber, which will disqualify them for the discount.
Shame on you Comcast.
We are retired seniors on a fixed income and get great TV as well as internet for less than 50 bucks a month. It’s worked quite well for a few years now and will work at least through February of 2015. If you are interested, click on the following link to read more…

I thank you for your providing that.
Now if I can get help from Comcast. They have changed the phone system so that us poor people without touch tone phones cannot get anywhere.
They are simply worthless.
Sorry for the rant but as I can't speak to them anyother way, and this is their forum, they deserve it.

Regarding the "Internet Essentials" program, and the requirements thereof... Comcast is a "socialistic" company, giving "handouts' (aka low fees) to poor young people and/or families. They could care less about seniors, as we are the fading generation.
Comcast is an Obama supporter, donating thousands of dollars to Democratic committees and candidates. I'm sure if they can offer low rates to some and not to others it's because of their prejudistic ways.
Bundled packages should be a SIN. Break a bundle, and a person is penaltized by Comcast raising the individual rates. Seniors on fixed incomes cannot afford either one but we need Internet/Phone/TV for our sanity and communication.
We can't help it that we've put out to pasture by society, but we're STILL ALIVE and contribute with dollars and (sense).. They, too, will be in our shoes someday. If I could vote Comcast out of business I would do so, but for now, I have to unfortunately put up with their ways of business.
