The broadcast fee is a charge to recoup the price they pay to get the signal from the big 3 and other broadcasters. It is charged by all providers (AT$T, DirectTV Dish etc) The sports fee is for sports related programming in your package and again recoups costs associated with aquiring content to broadcast. Most, if not all providers charge this fee also. This fee can be avoided only if your package does not contain sports related material. Niether fee is waivable (ie mandatory)
I believe Disney owns ESPN, not Comcast, either way the fee is for all sports content, not just ESPN. There may be lawsuits out there, but nothing has been resolved AFAIK.
Hi JoeS69. The Regional Sports Fee is an itemized charge that recovers a portion of the costs of broadcasting multiple regional sports networks to our standard video services. The fee applies to XFINITY TV customers receiving Digital Starter and above, as well as Starter Latino TV/XFINITY TV 450 Latino service tier.
The Broadcast TV Fee is an itemized charge that recovers a portion of the costs of re-transmitting broadcast television signals. Broadcast stations have the right to charge for their signals, and cable provides like Comcast end up paying substantial fees in order to carry them. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid the charges.
I will add here that all of the major cable companies charge customers these fees, including AT&T/Direct TV, and Dish. So, it's not just Comcast.
If you leave in a city area, get an indoor antenna and receive free TV (rural areas have less choices). Thay are only ISP in town so I am stuck so I have to get their internet. However, I will use HuluPlus and get all the channels I want and more for $50 less than the monopolistic Comcast
I have Comcast Blast 75mgb. Internet only, no phone, no tv. Why am I charged regional sports fee, broadcast tv fee, 911 charges, other phone related fees. I have only Blast internet, nothing else. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This fee represents the portion of costs to distribute Regional Sports Networks (RSN) to customers receiving Comcast Business TV with RSN programming. This is not a government mandated or required fee and will increase from time to time. Comcast and other providers have broken these fees out so customers and the public can more readily identify the impact of increases in sports programming costs on their services.
Why don't these 'manditory' fees appear with taxes and other manditory fees below the programming line? Perhaps because the fee charged to comcast is less than the fee charged to their customers (?) Doesn't that make these charges a profit center just like the rest of their programming? Muddy water creates opportunity.
On Internet Plus plans - which includes only Basic TV and 1 premium such as HBO, is it correct that there is no regional sports fee, since no sports channels are included in that package? And is the Broadcast fee the same in every state, every plan ? What would be the Broadcast Fee in Atlanta, Ga on the Plus plan ?
I understand that broadcast channels charge Comcast to carry their feeds, however I would think that fee is built into the subscription price of the package. I would probably not mind the fee as much if HD was included. I think in today's day and age, especially when OTA broadcasts are in HD , to charge $17 (assuming $7 Broadcast and $10 HD) on top of the plan just to receive broadcast channels in 1080p is a bit crazy
Hello jms515. We're sorry you fee that way. To address your concerns, please read below:
I would be happy to check the cost for the Broadcast TV fee in your area, and to do so, I'll need to access your account. Please send me a private message and include your full name, service address, and account number so I can access your account.
You REALLY REALLY expect the public to believe that ridiculous statement!!??? So now Comcast is a "Charity Organization", giving services for less cost than what you pay for them. PUHLEASE!!!!!
