I hate that after the last "update" I now can change channels at a speed that comcast can't match. In other words I can go from 593 all the way to 518 and only see a black screen with three dots. It takes so long for my screen to populate the picture. WHY?

The 3 dots are normally seen only on "streaming video" when your broadband speed is slower than required, or possibly a buffer (on the app) not designed large enough for most people devices used to watch a video.

 

What Comcast source are you using to watch a video?  What device are you watching on?
