For the past few days, Comcast channel 81 (RT) in the Kent/Covington, WA area, has been showing nothing but infomercials. The channel guide still contains RT content. So what happened? Thanks.
By RT, do you mean the Russian TV news network? I assume 81 is probably a leased channel (they PAID Comcast to carry it) and they dropped the lease. RT disappeared here in the Chicago area several months ago.
We have also lost RT News on comcast here in Santa Cruz, CA.
It used to be on "Leased" channel 103 which now appears to be identical full time infomercials same as channel 101.
Channel 103 switched from RT News to full-time infomercials yesterday, Jan. 1.
Funny thing was that, for a bout a week prior, similar commercials would interrupt the RT News broadcasting from time to time, but then the regular RT programming would resume.
Then, yesterday, when it switched to full time infomercials, initially the infomercial was 'hosted' by Larry King, who is one of the mainstay RT broadcasters, so it still appeared like RT had 'sold out' to commercial broadcasting.
Anyway, RT is available on many other free streaming services so it could be that they decided to drop Comcast, however on rt.com they still list Comcast in my area as one of the ways to watch.
