WBNG-TV (CBS Binghamton, NY) to Drop from Eagles Mere Lineup

Effective today, May 30, 2018, Comcast will no longer provide WBNG-TV (channel 12) as part of the Eagles Mere, PA channel lineup. All of Sullivan County, PA is part of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton TV market (DMA).  

WBNG is a CBS affiliate that’s based outside of this local broadcast area (outside of the DMA) and provides the same network programming carried on local CBS station, WYOU (channel 9) from Scranton, PA. Other WBNG syndicated programming is also available on other local stations that remain in the local TV lineup.

 

The terms "DMA", "out of market", "significantly viewed", "network non-duplication" and "distant signal" all have extensive definitions and examples, some links below that will make for some good reading:
