St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

For the 2018 season, unfortunately, we do not have the carriage rights for additional St Louis Cardinals games in Paducah, KY this season as we have been able to do in the past (as seen on channel 95 locally).

Below is a list of Cardinals games that are currently expected to be available in this area via national and regional sports networks. Additional games may be added. Schedule is subject to change. (Updated 4/9/18).

One note: There are two games (4/16 and 7/4) that are airing on both ESPN and Fox Sports Tennessee. It appears that ESPN negotiated for the rights to be able to show these games alongside in-market broadcasters for Monday and Wednesday night games (both games are after 7 PM on a Monday, April 16 and Wednesday, July 4) so the games SHOULD show on both channels and shouldn’t be blacked out.

Fox Sports Tennessee = channel 43

Fox Sports 1 = channel 76 and 450 (HD)

ESPN = channel 22 and 403 (HD)

KBSI-TV Cape Girardeau, Missouri (Fox 23) = channel 8 and 434 (HD)

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

This is completely unacceptable. What is the explanation for this? Is there any chance of this being rectified? If not, I will be switching from Comcast to Dish or Direct after 20+ years of being a loyal customer.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

So why do you have just a few Fox Sports South games, and not all? I can understand loosing the games you showed on Channel 95, that wern't on Fox South, but not the Fox South games. Again, the rationing of Fox South games doesn't make sense. Did you reach some agreement where only a few games could be shown? Very unusual.

I won't be surprised if some of those ESPN games are blacked out because they're considered "in-market".

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

I just reread your post. On closer examination, the Fox South games, are games where the Cardinals are playing the Atlanta Braves. Obviously, since the Braves are the network's flagship team, and you have you have those rights. But, Paducah is not in the Braves territory, and those games are blacked out.

I would like more details on this. Since the Cardinals just began a new TV contract, I will bet Comcast was unwilling to pay the new rights fees.

Considering I pay over $250 a month for Comcast services, this is completely unacceptable.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

Was this some sort of April Fools joke? Or did Comcast Teds misunderstand something? With one exception, the games are appearing  in Paducah with regularity on Channels 43, 401, and 1250.

My own guess, is that the only thing different is there is no longer a dedicated overflow feed for games on Channel 95, when the other Channels are pre-emptied with Fox Sports South content. This was the original reason for creating Channel 95, and prior to that Channel 17. While this situation is less than optimum, it is a far cry from the sparse schedule Teds posted.  From past experience, this will still provide close to 100 games, and with diligent effort, a fan can find the other 62 via internet streams. Switching to a satellite provider is a bit drastic in 2018.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

There's no need to check. You simply don't understand how this works. Let me explain:

The Cardinals show 80 games on Fox Sports Tennessee, which is a territorial sub-channel of Fox Sports South. Fox Tennessee pre-empts other Fox South programming within its territory. This is broadcast over the same channel as Fox South. Fox Tennessee covers TN from Memphis north through western KY, including Paducah. The remaining games of the Cardinals FSN package, are broadcast over Fox Southeast, which is a separate channel. The issue is that Fox Southeast' territory doesn't extend into KY. To correct that problem, in the past, Comcast has negotiated broadcast rights for the Paducah market, to carry the remaining games on a dedicated channel, that only broadcast Cardinals games, and is black the rest of the time. This year, Comcast was unable to secure those rights.

The 80 games on Fox Tennessee, are still available in the Paducah market. There's additional games from other networks, but to gather an understanding of that, one would have to have an understanding of MLB territorial blackout rules, which are too involved to go into here. I understand them, and apparently you get paid to understand them but don't. By posting that sparce, incorrect schedule in your original post, you have driven off loyal Comcast subscribers, who don't have the knowledge I do. If your job description includes responsibility for knowledge of regional sports programming, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the information, before you just piece together a national schedule and add a few Braves/Cardinals games from Fox South, which are blacked out in Paducah anyway.

Apologies. In an effort to quickly provide the information, I relied on some team members who are closer to this subject than I am. That team may have misunderstood my original request.

Link below has the additional Cardinals' games available in this market from Fox Sports South/Fox Sports Tennessee that are expected to be available in Padacuh. Thanks for your patience. Enjoy the season.

Still no explanation or reason given for not broadcasting all of the games? This is ridiculous and I will pursue other options so that I may watch all of the games. Losing a 20+ year comcast customer. To save a few dollars I'm sure. Pitiful.

Better make sure DirectTV or Dish have all the Cardinals games. Paducah is a peculiar market in the way the teams and regional sports channels are aligned. I was hard on Ted previously, but although Comcast obviously bears some blame, the real culprit is MLB, Fox Sports Midwest, and the Cardinals. As long as the split exist between the Cardinals territory (which includes Paducah), and Fox Sports Midwest (which doesn't include Paducah), these problems will be recurring regardless of the Cable/Satellite provider.

In the past, the logic behind having Fox Sports South as the network for Paducah, was the large number of UK basketball games they broadcast. With the advent of the SEC Network, this is no longer the case. In fact, I don't believe any UK games were shown on FS South this past season. Given, the Cardinals have the dominant fan base in the area, it would make sense to extend FS Midwest into this region. FS South has nothing to offer Paducah. It's an Atlanta and Carolinas centered network. As an indication, of all the pro teams FS South carries, only the Nashville Predators hockey team has territorial rights in Paducah. Everything else they have, Braves, Hawks, Bobcats, Grizzlies, Hurricanes, are all blacked out in Paducah. It makes no sense.

We do not have the carriage rights for additional St Louis Cardinals games in Paducah, KY this season as we have been able to do in the past (as seen on channel 95 locally). . We made an attempt to secure the rights from Fox and Fox declined.  We could not come to terms on a deal that makes the best sense for our business and for our customers in this area.

In other words, you didn't want to spend the money. Meanwhile I pay $250 a month and won't even get to watch all Cardinals games. It is a slap in the face and if I can determine that Dish or Directv carry the games, you will be losing a customer of 25 years. Stinking pitiful. How about spending a little money for the consumers instead of banking every penny you possibly can.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

I have been a Comcast customer for 33 years! I, too, am very disappointed that Comcast would not agree to a deal with Fox to carry ALL Cardinals games this season in the Paducah area. I have been an avid Cardinal fan as long as I remember. The majority of our area is a part of Cardinal nation!!

I have never considered changing to Direct TV even though they have package deals for AT&T customers. Please re-consider negotiating an agreement to televise all STL Cardinals in Paducah. They need their Paducah fan base! ⚾️⚾️⚾️

Assuming Comcast cannot make this work for customers in Metropolis we will switch to Direct or another to get Cardinal Baseball.Very disappointed.

Found out from a co-worker today that Directv has all of the Cardinals games. They actually have Fox Sports Midwest.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

After the somewhat sparse April schedule, we're only talking about 30% of the games missing. Almost all weekend day games. Best deal is MLB.TV, with a 90 minute blackout delay. $86 for Cardinals games for the entire season.

You're still going to need internet, and no one in the area other than Comcast offers anything over 25 mps. So you're still going to need Comcast.

I suppose if your whole purpose of having a TV, is to watch Cardinals games, satellite makes sense at this point. But doing so involves sacrifices in other areas. There's many other options streaming wise to recieve these games.

For the one's stating their decades of being a Comcast customer, I hope you are aware Comcast had only been broadcasting Cardinals games since 2009.

If I understand the latest Cardinal schedule for the Paducah area (I assume Metropolis too)should include tonight’s April 12 game .
The Comcast baseball average this year has thus far been lousy. We could not get any ESPN games Monday night.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

Been a Comcast customer (TV) for over 20 years.  With Netflix, RedBox, etc..., there are fewer and fewer reasons for me to continue subscribing.  The fact that they carried so many of the Cardinal baseball games was a major factor for me to hang on.  Gonna drop the TV soon if they do not pick up more.  May do the MLB. TV or DirectTV.   If I do satellite, they'll probably lose me as an internet subscriber as well.  My parents are retired and are avid Cardinal fans.  They already dropped their Comcast.  Comcast recently raised their rates on both our packages.  They started charging everyone for digital/HD services a couple of years ago even though most everyone around here receives the signal via coaxial cables (in most homes built over 5-10 years ago) and the same old lines on the poles and underground.  Even if you have digital and HD TV's, the signal only can improve so much based on the wire carrying it.  In other words, you only get the fastest signal and best quality picture if your signal is carried via fiberoptic lines.  It'll be a while before those lines dominate our local transmission service.  Also, I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation for what the regional sports fee is that we pay on our bill.  The fee is still there despite the fact that we have lost one of our region's most followed teams (or at least many of the games).  Very disappointed and frustrated.:-(

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

I don't care to watch the games 90 minutes after they are over. Most of the streaming options are blacked out. I have done my research on this topic, thank you. I can keep comcast internet and switch to Directv for programming. It is cheaper anyway. I have stayed with comcast just to keep from going through the hassle of switching. If you want to keep giving comcast more money for less programming, you are welcome to do so. I will choose a better option.

Well, wait until you get your DirecTV bill, after the introductory offer runs out. You could buy a partial season ticket at Busch Stadium for what those thieves charge.

To eelb53.......The games are NOT appearing with regularity on any of those channels!!!  Think there has been at most 2 games that have appeared on a Comcast channel in Paducah out of the 15 the Cards have played on their schedule.

Another heads up. If you have the fox go app you can watch all their games with the reds. I’ve been watching all weekend off my iPhone and plugging it into my tv. Crazy we get all the reds games on the Fox go app but not even carried on any of my Comcast channels!!!! It’s mind boggling!!

HEADS UP!!!!!!

To those who are staying the course with Comcast and Cardinals games. There is no direct method of finding an up to date Cardinals schedule for FSTN games. There are various reasons for this, which are too detailed to go into here. The most accurate method is to go to the tvguide.com website. DO NOT USE THE PADUCAH LISTINGS!!!! They are incorrectly listed under the FS South default feed, not the FSTN feed. CHANGE THE LOCATION TO A MEMPHIS ZIP CODE OF 37501 with Comcast as the provider. Find FSTN Channel 25,  and look for the date and time of the Cardinals game. If it's on, the game will be listed. These games will be found on Channel 43 SD and 401 HD on your Paducah system. The onscreen guide will not list the games, you have to use the TV guide website, with the Memphis schedule to find them.

There are very few games shown on Fri., Sat., and Sun.  The bulk of the games are shown Mon. thru Thr. Because of preemption with Nashville Predators play-off games, the schedule for April given by Ted is incorrect. Once May arrives, you can expect the Cardinals games played Mon. thru Thr. to appear with regularity.

WORK AROUND

MLB.TV for $22 a month. Live games are blacked out because the Cardinals are considered in-market, and because Comcast is expected to provide the full schedule, but doesnt. There is a 90 minute delay after the ending of the game. Being that the games in question are mostly on the weekend, with many being day games, it shouldn't be too hard to sequester yourself from receiving scores on a summer weekend day until the game is over. Watch the replay free of blackout in the early evening.

A previous poster mentioned receiving games of the present series with the Cinncinati Reds. This is possible on some of the new "cut the cord" streaming services such as Sling TV, Hulu, etc. This is because Paducah, for whatever reason, has been given FS Ohio as the default sports network on these services. THIS IS ONLY GOOD FOR WHEN THE CARDINALS PLAY THE REDS.

NUCLEAR OPTION

Go with DirecTV. The only assured method of receiving 162 live Cardinals games. Even though the Cardinals are a big part of my life, this is something I choose not to do. Other fans, for various reasons, will not make this choice either. This comes down to previous experieces with DirecTV, and the difficulties in dealing with sub-contractors who service the equipment. You can't just go to a local office and swap out a bad box, like with Comcast. Everything has to be "professionally" installed. In my case, this hassle surpasses the liability of loosing 30% of the Cardinals games with Comcast.

TED HAS WIPED HIS HANDS OF THE ISSUE

ComcastTeds has done his PR work here, and attempted to correct his feeble effort with the inaccurate schedule. He has no dedicated interest in providing a continuously updated schedule throughout the rest of the season, and frankly doesn't have the knowledge to put together an accurate schedule even if he wanted to. Paducah's small market, combined with MLB's and the Cardinals complex territorial and regional network map, make this an issue that no one in power wants to deal with. Ranting and raving here, will not solve the problem, nor produce any magical answers.

Don’t need sling or Hulu just download the fox go app on smart phone or tv for free and you can see all Cincinnati Reds games. Try this out when no other option.
Appreciate all the good information in this post. Best solution for all would be for Comcast in Paducah to offer Fox Midwest for its customers in some type of package.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

I have downloaded the Fox Sports GO app, and Bigredonenow is correct. I've experimented with it on both sides of the river, and it appears it uses geo location instead of ip address to determine blackouts. On the KY side, you will get Fox Sports Ohio and Reds games. The good news is on the IL side, for Metropolis and Brookport Comcast subscribers, is you will receive Fox Sports Midwest and Cardinals games live. This even works when connected to your home Comcast Wi-Fi, as the geo locate on Google appears to supersede the ip address. The ip address is located in Paducah, so in the past, blackouts have been a problem on both sides of the river. With devices using geo locate to determine actual location, the issue for IL residents no longer exist, as FS Midwest is the default network on this side of the river.

For IL residents, transmit your video over to your TV. Obviously using a Roku or Chromecast, or similar device will be easiest. For KY residents, you'll have to find a suitable spot on the IL side of the river to watch the game on your device. I understand that's not an optimum situation for Paducah subscribers, but just want to let you know it's available. The advantage to using Fox GO, is it doesn't cost anymore money than your already paying.

As I've mentioned before, being on the dividing line between FSTN and FSMW, makes everything tricky. Fox GO obiously has thrown FSOH into the mix, as Paducah is legally in their and the Reds territory. Apparently Fox GO doesn't care what Comcast is using as a sports network on the Paducah system.

Interesting how the app can switch between the 2 sports networks when crossing the river,  but Comcast can't do that on their system for Metropolis and Brookport subscribers. This is so needlessly complicated when you consider the technology available in 2018. The sad thing is Comcast doesn't care, and most of their employees are drones without the knowledge or incentive to help. We have to do all the thinking ourselves.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals games (MLB) in Paducah KY

More good news for those on the IL side. I am running 7 day free trials with both Sling TV and YouTube TV.  Both offer FS Midwest as the default network in the 62960 zip code. All FSMW Cardinals games are aired.

The Fox Sports GO app was a little glitchy, with enough buffering and freezing to be annoying, but doable. YouTube appears to have the best performance. Predictable, considering their decade of experience with streaming. I think I'm going with YouTube, and cutting back my Comcast programming. YouTube doesn't have local stations, (3, 6, 12, 23). So still need Comcast or a good digital antenna.

This is better than dealing with DirecTV and their intrusive installation and maintenance.

I'm simply running a 15 ft. HDMI cable from my laptop to TV. No Rokus are anything. Works fine.
