CMT Channel

I just spoke with a rep and i advised him that i can't get CMT channel anymore as it was part of my llineup in my contract, he advised that it was moved to the sport and entertainment package and would have to pay $9.99 extra for it, i advised him that comcast broke my contract by taking away the channel that was part of my contract channel lineup, he said viacomm made this decision. i don't care, comcast took away part of something that was part of my contract and has not voided that contract and that's what i advised the rep. i'm so sick of comcast pulling this garbage on customers, their losing business everyday by doing this. I will not let comcast nickle and dime me to death when i was paying for this as part of my agreement with comcast. i don't care what any rep comes back and says, my contract is VOID.

What's even sillier is it depends on which box you have, whether or not it is gone.  We have the correct package, so its fine on our main box, but our secondary box which is the small HDDTA doesnt get it.  Comcast told me that because the DTA is meant for lower tier subscribers to access basic channels, it will not allow you to view any channels above Digital Starter......

 

How stupid is that?  From their point of view I see that they are just trying to upsell me a 12 dollar a month box.  No Chance!

 

Too bad Comcast ismy only option where I live.........No Fios, No OTA (too far), No Uverse, and nowhere to put a Dish at my apartment complex.....Plus Comcast is the only high speed internet I can get!  All the rest max out at 1.5Mb in my complex (old lines I'm sure).  Guess they have me by the 'sac!

Dont hold your breath on this one. I've escalated to Tom Karinshak's office and have been responded to by Celestino S and Robert K with typical Comcast avoidance rhetoric. Since Comcast doesnt care about their customers, as is shown by lack of any billing reduction for service, it's time to look at other options. Satellite looks to be the answer. Maybe almighty Comcast will get the hint if enough people drop their service.

 When I signed up with Comcast I signed a 2year starter package contract with you. Under the conditions of the contract, if I were to terminate within that time period I have to pay a "termination fee" That being said, how can you breach the contract with me that I signed by removing channels at your own will. How is that even legal?  And you wonder why Comcast is labeled "The worst company in America" Keep up the great work at maintaining that label Comcast.

Interesting that a Comcast rep would say it was basically Viacom's decision to move channels to a more expensive tier. This is what Viacom said in a statement. According to the statement it doesn't sound like they are pleased with Comcast.

"Comcast has moved both Spike TV and CMT to more expensive tiers of service," a Viacom statement said. "This action is in direct violation of our agreement and will increase costs for customers who will now have to pay more for networks that were previously included in less expensive packages. We hope our Comcast viewers will continue to recognize the value of our services featuring hit shows such as Spike's Lip Sync Battle and CMT's I Love Kellie Pickler and seek them out, but we want them to know that all the extra money from these higher monthly fees goes directly to Comcast and is not shared with Spike TV or CMT.
"We continue to address our concerns directly with Comcast and hope their customers will do so as well," Viacom said in a statement.

I really could care less about those channels and wouldn't pay two cents extra for them, but I don't like the idea of you taking away something we are already paying for.

Does Comcast actually read these comments.  If they are interested in proving cusotmer service, I would think that this would be a great way to find out what they need to do to make customers happy.  I think the only thing  that will help is some true competition or if they would understand that they could get more customers if they would do what really needs to be done.  Instead, they look at the bottom line and donot understand that exceptional customer service brings in more customers not less.  Good customer service and not trying to basically take advantage of customers would change this forum to all positive comments instead of the continued negitave comments that continue.  So hard to understand why all of these smart business minds do not understand this.  Appears it's all about how they assume they can make more money and they don't really care how people feel.

I was just flipping through channels and tried to watch SPIKE only to receive a message that it was no longer included in my service - only in the Digital Preferred Package. When I called to complain they explained that this is just channel migration (from January) and they could give me the channel for two months, but after that it would AUTOMATICALLY charge me $9.95 (FOR ONE CHANNEL!) if I didn't call to cancel it. OUTRAGEOUS!

 

What channel am I getting instead of this? I am paying the same price for my bill and getting fewer channels! If Comcast wants to take channels away, my bill should be decreasing! I let it go when I lost CMT, but it just keeps continuing.

 

My husband has been pushing to ditch the cable and use an online service since I only watch about 10 channels and do most of my viewing of TV shows on demand. Now I am seriously considering! Why should I pay $75 a month for a service I barely use when an online subscription is much cheaper. At this rate, Comcast should expect to continue to lose subscribers to cheaper online options since they continue to take away channels and charge the same amount.

I received a print out with a channel line up effective Feb. 1, 2016.

It lists CMT and Spike under the digital starter package.

Comcast won't even admit the mistake even after taking it to the office in person.

What a horrible company. Direct TV...I'm sorry I left. Don't worry though, I'll be back soon.

I would strongly suggest everyone affected with the change to spend useful time researching and setting up a plex server.  Spike has a channel on plex that gives you next day HD without commercials to stream. Free and legal.

 

Just YouTube plex and it will give you step by step setup.  Takes maybe 5 minutes start to finish.

CMT no longer working

I just got off the phone with one of you agents who informed me CMT and Spike tv are not working because they were moved to some sports package that would cost me an extra $5.  I already pay somewhere around $160 a month and I just want to let you know I think its rediculous that you remove channels from customers that have been faithful to you for 10 plus years.  You periodicly increase our bill, and now you are simutaniously removing channels.   For the first time in years we are in the market for a new provider.

I agree I was shocked to see cmt was gone. They should lower the bill when they take away channels. I am currently changing a lot of my services because this company is shady.

I agree with this complaint 100%. Asking customers to agree to multi-year agreements, only to remove services over the term of the agreement is disingenuous at best. When I became a Comcast customer, I spent time understanding which plan would best fit my needs with a Comcast rep. We went over channels, Internet services, etc.

I thought I was losing my mind when I saw the "subscribe" pop up on this channel as I know I've watched it after switching from Uverse. I thought it might be a fluke, but clearly not.

I'm sure language in the contract protects Comcast, allowing them to legally remove channels on a whim (and certainly to make more money), but that contract language doesn't protect against further customer frustration and anger. I guess I'll continue lowering my expectations of this company.

I wonder if Comcast realizes how few customers they would have if people weren't forced to use them as the sole cable provider in most markets?

Comcast! Because mediocre is good enough in the absence of competition!

I gave that a try. The shows only loaded to the 11:00 mark. The Spike webpage and Roku app require signing in through a TV provider to watch full episodes, Comcast/Xfinity isn't on the list. I'm guessing that has something do with the complete episodes not loading.

Are you really that greedy. I pay a lot of money for what I have and now you take away CMT and put it sports package so I have to pay to get it. If your service wasn't a monopoly where I live I would look at another cable company. I really think you should put it back.

I just chatted with MarkDean, and according to him-them CMT has been removed from the Basic digital subscription, and placed in the Preferred digital. This channel and any others in the Basic plan, are not worth paying extra for.

Why did I lose a basic channel on my remote (not the main box) that does not have a HD equalivent? This occured about 4 weeks ago.

CMT being yanked out from under us!

We were never notified that CMT & Spike were moving & we were just getting started in a new season of “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge”, when you yanked CMT away from us! Not cool!

missing channels

I've noticed there are 3 channels that I don't get anymore, Spike, CMT, and now NICK.  When I called about it, I was told I should have received an email about it, which I could not find anywhere.  It seems to me that since we pay to get certain channel groupings, that if 3 of those are suddenly no longer offered, that we should have received discounts or 3 similar channels on the list.  Anyone know what is up with this?

CMT Moved to sports package!!!!!!!!!

Why  would you move CMT to the sports package?  You say you do this to give people better options or to lower your costs (forget the billions your profiting already) or whatever your excuse is this time.  But how is this a better choice for me or alot of people who love CMT and now have to spend an additional 9.99 a month on top of the 180 i already pay for one channel I really want and a bunch sports channels i could care less about.  Seams to me its more a ploy to get people who didn't purchase the sports package to be forced to get yet another package they dont wan't!!! Just the usuall bull from another megacorp. whining about costs and were only trying to help our beloved consumers!!!! All LIES I was told when i called about getting CMT while on the digital starter pack to upgrade to x1 premier and I would get all the chanells NOT all the chanels except CMT how long before HBO MAX STARZ SHOWTIME Ect... get pulled to some super duper ultimate package for only 500 a month Except for GAC thats with the porn package for 75 more

Taking channels away

Been a loyal customer for 6 yrs now. Same package same price. Went to turn I Spike TV, says "Not Authorized". Was told by Comcast Representative that I needed to upgrade my package to continue to receive channel. I am infuriated by this "strong arm" tactic. Guess it's time to find new provider if Comcast doesn't resolve this issue.

Around the beginning of January CMT( among others) was moved to a different tier and notifications were/are included on your billing statements.

I spend some time this morning on the Chat line about our loss of GAC and CMT channels to be told that it is now only available with the Sports Entertainment Package. Anyone else upset about this change? Country Music fans are not necessarily sports fans. To get those two channels I would have to subscribe to the Sports Entertainment Pkg for an additional $9.95 per month where I would get more sports..of which I already have 6 of them listed  with my Triple Play. This sounds like another money grab for Comcast. Why are music videos tied into a sports package? I fail  to see the logic in that!

I found out today that CMT and GAC were removed and only available by purchasing Sports Entertainment Package. I also am a little upset at this stupid change.

I was told from Comcast that I would need to change from Digital Preferred to "Digital Perferred Plus" to get those channels back. after about an hour of back and forth they made a good offer for 12months

Apparently it was nicely hidden, since many customers apparently didn't see it. When channels are moved like this, there should be a separate mailing.

I need help recieving SPIKE TV channel on our basement tv. It used to get channel 59,now it no longer does.

CMT channel no longe authorized

About 8-10 weeks ago when we tried watching CMT, which we enjoy regularly, it came up as Not Authorized. I though it was a typical Comcast glitch and waited several days before calling. I had rather go to the dentist. It was a typical horrible 1 hour and 42 minutes experience with the resolution as pinging all our boxes twice and telling us if it was not restored in 2 hours to call back. Yea right. So I tried on line today and am coming to this forum after trying to have an on line chat 5 times. It is a mess. It kept saying I had two errors after completing all boxes and information it requested. Anyway, what hope do I have at getting the CMT isssue resolved.

I was told that it is now part of the sports package. You have to pay extra to get this certain sports package to get it. This is what I was told when I called Comcast.

When did CMT, Country Music Television become a sports channel?  Why on earth would CMT be switched to the Sports package? I'm not happy not some of my favorite channels are being moved to packages that I don't watch nor want to pay for!  Comcast is a rip off and are gouging customers.  This is unacceptable.  I plan to look for other cable and Internet providers.

Agreed, this is why you don't want a monopoly. Unfortunately some of us do not have a choice due to geographical location or surrounding obstacles preventing clear line of sight for satelite reception. ( not that they are much better ) I've been nickeled and dimed for months straight; gone up 3 times in a row over just the last 3 months. Taking away another popular channel because they don't want to absorb the price increase. Right!

Can't get CMT on my TV

When I put on the CMT channel I receive an error message telling me to go to xfinity.com , my acccount & add the channel. I don't understand why this happened when I was able to watch this station previously. I went to my account & do not know how to add the channel to my TV. Please help.

Read the thread. Per Comcast they moved CMT, Spike, and Pop to a higher cable package (used to be available in digital starter but not now). It costs $9.99 to upgrade to the next package in order to get the channels back.

We lost the CMT channel.  We can get CMTM, but what happened to CMT?  The only thing we had cut from our service was HBO, so why did we lose CMT at the same time?
