NBC10 Boston

When is NBC10 Boston going to be on Comcast systems in Bristol County. We get all other Boston Stations. The reason was that it was a new station. It has been on the air for over 2 years.

Re: NBC10 Boston

It's unlikely you'll ever receive this now, as you are able to receive NBC programming from WJAR, the Providence based station that is in-market for you.

The country is carved up into television markets, backed by information from Nielsen and enforced by the FCC. Bristol County, MA is considered part of the Providence television market, not Boston. Traditionally, stations have been able to be considered significantly viewed in areas with close proximity. Because NBC transferred from WHDH to WBTS in Boston, WBTS is not granted this same viewership status that the other Boston stations have regarding their significantly viewed status. This means that WJAR can effectively block WBTS from being seen in your area.

How come we can get CBS/ WBZ and ABC/ WCVB from Boston and not NBC10 Boston, it is not fair.

Boston 25 in HD

When is Comcast in Bristol County going to have an HD channel, it is on SD on Channel 22 which is  blocked when Fox network shows are on. Their non Fox shows such as the news looks horrible on SD

Re: NBC10 Boston

Because they're grandfathered in as being significantly viewed. WBTS is an entirely new station. NBC's decision to move the signal from WHDH to WBTS means that it won't be seen on cable or satellite systems outside of the Boston television market. You may be able to access it via antenna.

As for the HD version of WFXT, that is a business decision that Comcast has made. There is not a technical reason they can't offer the HD version of the channel. Few providers offer out-of-market stations (including Comcast) in HD at all, so the fact you have any puts you ahead of most.

Re: NBC10 Boston

How ironic that a station/network owned by Comcast (NBC) which owns a station in the Boston market (NBC10 Boston) cannot be seen on Comcast located in a county (Bristol) which is in MA.

I think the management at NBC should evaluate the situation.
