Internal Authentication Error on Fire Stick

I have an Amazon Firestick, and I downloaded the Lifetime app to watch some shows. It asks me to sign in to watch the shows. I select the "Xfinity" option and it says "You're automatically signed in with Xfinity and ready to watch!" Then, it says "Internal Authentication Error" and won't sign in. I have access to Lifetime with my cable package, so why can't I access the shows on the app? I see a lot of posts where people say that they don't have the option to choose Xfinity as a provider. That's not the case for me. It is shown as a provider, but it still won't log in.

Hi CaitGonz, have you tried accessing the app on another device other than your Fire Stick? Have you tried removing the app from your device and then adding it back? Is this the only app that's not operating correctly on your fire stick?

The same thing is happening for me on CNN and Lifetime - it started within the past month or so, and just goes to an infinite authentication loop. It is clearly across apps so is a problem with xfinity

I know our app is not supported on any Amazon equipment, and we don't have an agreement to stream our service on Amazon devices. Can you try signing into your CNN/Lifetime app on another device and tell me if you get the same error?

Same thing happened to me with the SYFY app. It was the first time I used this app and I had just downloaded it. I just restarted the firestick and tried again. It worked Smiley Happy

In addition to the thousands of choices available on the Xfinity Stream app and online via the Xfinity Stream portal, we currently provide access to more than 80 network websites and apps across 21 devices. We're working to expand access and content choices for even more options in the future. Right now, the following networks are available:

 

If you currently subscribe to these networks and are unable to authenticate using your Xfinity credentials, we recommend verifying that it is not a device issue. To verify if it is the device you are currently on, try accessing the app/website on a different device. For instance, if you are on your Amazon Fire Stick and experiencing difficulties, try on your phone or computer. If you can successfully authenticate on another device, it is most likely a device issue. We recommend contacting the device manufacturer or Network directly (links to network websites above). If you continue to experience an issue logging in on a different device it could be a profile issue, which we will happily investigate. Feel free to post your results here for additional assistance.

The problem is, on my Xfinity box, it shows the show on A&E is not available for on demand.  On the A&E App it shows it is on demand.  Why the difference when I authenticate to A&E using my Xfinity credentials?

norcalcop, great question! Thanks for posting here on the forums. I would speculate and say that the difference in on-demand availability on the A&E app vs XFINITY on-demand might be the result in an agreement between us and the network. I'd be happy to take a closer look and double check with our on-demand team. What is the show you're referring to?

Hi there,

I also have activation issues.  Daily activation is getting REALLY tiresome.

Any help is appreciated

 

It looks like the activation code is being deleted nightly ... by whom??

Xfinity is my guess

 

These two don't play nicely together.  Discovery network Apps & Xfinity

 

The codes that are being returned include the following:

 

'Must use non-zero containerViewid' 

and

attempt to invoke virtual method

"Java.lang.string.com.discovery.models.API.AccessToken.get Affiliatename()"

  on non object reference

clgray, appreciate you letting us know about your network authentication issue on the Fire Stick. Have you attempted to try on another device? Have you contacted Amazon support?
