Any subscription to HBO through Comcast, whether as part of a bundle package or as an add-on premium channel sub, entitles you to access the HBO Max service. For now, the app is not available on Comcast-provided (X1) devices, but you can log in to the HBO Max website or app with your Comcast credentials on any supported device (see below). Note, in particular, that AT&T has yet to work out deals with Amazon or Roku for their streaming devices to carry the HBO Max app. But a deal with Roku is almost certainly in the offing, while Amazon is a bit of a stickier wicket.
For the full list of currently supported devices, see https://help.hbomax.com/Answer/Detail/20
OK so 1 month later and customers like myself are seeking some answers/clarity/transparency/information, etc...
HBO Max should be available as an app within X1. Peacock was made available fast, so why not HBO Max?
Ya know you can "cast" it from your phone or laptop, right? You have to use your device as the remote, but it works fine otherwise. Or is this what you object to?
I have no idea what it means to "cast" the HBO Max channel. I have been watching via my laptop via the website but I'm interested in learning when HBO Max the channel will be part of the TV line-up or as an app.
Did anybody else get the e-mail today. Is it supposed to be on x1 boxes now? The directions are like greek to me. I signed up on the hbo max page but an not getting an app on my tv box. Can anybody explain? Thanks
Does that mean it should be appearing on my apps page? The girl on the phone seemed to say it will appear on Aug. 11
I received an email two days ago that it was available on my TV now, but it is NOT. Very frustrating to be mislead like that.
Hi
I can receive HOB NMAX on my PC X1, but where can it be found on the TV. Looked on demand, and on the apps but no HBO max? where is it:)
so you aare sayhing it has not been added to the TV, but I can receive it on TV via X1. strange to me> But in any case thank you for talking the time to answer me:)

Any idea if HBO Max will become available as an app on the X1 box? Seems ridculous that I can access HBO Max on my iPhone and my PC but not on my TV.
@OrangeMarker Hasn’t been added yet. You can’t customize/add apps yourself. Doubt you’ll ever see any adult apps available

Well, August 11 has come and gone and still no HBO Max!!!
on 7/19 ccandrew above noted there is no announced date.
I got that e-mail and it confused me too. I called and the girl told me Aug. 11 it should appear on the tv on the apps page.
How do I get HBO Max on my TV? I already subscribe to HBO. When I do a search, nothing comes up. I signed up on the HBO Max site, but can't access it on the tv.
Are we supposed to have the HBO max app on our X1 boxes by now? I joined their on-line thing thru my comcast acct. but watching on my laptop does nothing for me. Is it supposed to be on our tv's yet? Haven't seen anything on here to indicate that anybody has it yet but I don't know. I live right outside of Phila. Anyone know anything? I keep waiting for it to pop up under apps but still nothing
Thank you for posting your question here in the Xfinity Forum. HBO Max is available if you currently subscribe to HBO services. Unfortunately, at this time, the HBO Max app is not available via Xfinity X1.
If this changes in the future and we add HBO Max to X1 app, we will be sure to post those updates here.
For additional information about HBO Max and your Xfinity subscription please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/create-hbo-max-account

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that it would definitly be added to the x1 app somewhere down the line. I'm signed up on their website so I guess I could watch on my laptop but that seems silly with all the tv I have on x1. I'll just keep an eye out. If you hear anything could you please post on here? Thanks, Mike
My XG1V4 last night floated an HBO MAX offer for 12$ month/12 months then 15$. I didn't grab it because I thought I'd confirm with a CHAT today the 'fine print/terms'. I'd imagine that's APP access, channels and also CableCARD owner owned equipment also. Need to confirm.
I have the 11.99 offer now I use on ATV but would prefer the Xfinity APP so long as it includes HBO MAX 'everywhere/all devices' using Xfinity credentials.
I cannot access HBO Max with my Xfinity remote. I downloaded the HBO Max app on my computer, and can view on computer okay. On my Samsung TV, I can access HBO Max through the TV HBO Max app, using the Samsung remote. I tried reprogramming the remote (both XR11 andXR15) with no success - all I receive is splash screen indicating "HBO Max is coming to X1" - I have seen this message for at least three months. Can anyone offer a resolution for this issue? BilliardMan
May be another 2, 3, 4, 5 months. Hopefully in this lifetime. The answer is always 'soon' with Comcast.
So 'right now' with an HBO/HBO MAX subscription my APPLE TV will accept current Xfinity credentials for operation?
An X1 box when searching for HBO MAX 'content' mentions only for puchase. I did the $12M for 12 month subscription with Xfinity but I'm seeing the APP isn't populated yet on the X1.
If ATV accepts Xfinity credentials I'm good - if not - I've issues. My HBO MAX (direct) and Xfinity overlap by several days. I'd like to not cancel then find out I've issues!
Is anyone using an ATV currently w/Xfinity credentials?
How about CBS AA? Will that actually work w/Xfinity credentials?
It's been 6+ months for Disney+ so I'm guessing it will be over a year for HBOMAX. Shouldn't be that difficult to do, it's not like they didn't know it was coming.
I'm paying for HBO Max but can't get HBO or HBO Max on my TV. I've called customer service and just get the recording. What steps can I take instead of just cancwelling HBO,
It is odd that Xfinity is pushing HBO Max subscriptions when they don't have the app yet.
I'm assuming somewhere along the line, the HBO linear channels and on demand content will cease to exist and everything will direct to the app as it does currently with Netflix.
I ordered HBO on May 29 th right After I read on this forum that Comcast and HBO came to a deal on adding HBO MAX I was told by customer service rep that HBO MAX would be on The X1 platform in the next couple of months there is now a little over three months left in the year will it be on X1 soon I Know I can get it on my tablet or phone but I am legally blind in one of my eyes I don't really enjoy watching a full movie on a small screen
my tv is a 65 inch Samsung 4K tv and I really enjoy watching movies and TV on a big screen it's just so much better
Are you an Xfinity TV customer with HBO? If so, all of the HBO network content is available either on HBO or via Xfinity On Demand. Are those the movies you're looking to watch?
I Do have 7 HBO channels that I get besides the movies I'm also interested in getting full Uncut episodes of Friends and BIg Bang Theory commercial free
