Flyers game not recorded when have series recording set and game moves to different channel.

I have a series recording set for the Philadelphia Flyers on my X1 DVR.  Game with Detroit on Feb 3 was set to record on NBCSN. Game was actually broadcast on Sports Philadelphia instead. DVR recorded NBCSN, which broadcast a car show instead of the Flyers.  So I don't gat to see the game.  Both channels show the Flyers game as on  in the guide.

This has happened multiple times this year and is very frustrating when I'm looking forward to watching the game on my X1 DVR.

Essentially, Series recording fails to record some games.

Unfortunately, the guide does not account for blackouts (and the NBCSN telecast was blacked out in Philadelphia because NBCSP carried the game locally).  So if the game is marked in the guide as being on both channels, you need to make sure the local channel is the one you're recording (NBC's contract with the NHL does not allow coexists for in-market NBCSN games except for the first round of the playoffs, otherwise telecasts are exclusive to NBCSN or they're blacked out).

The guide should be able to account for the blackouts.  Without that, I have to double check each recording to make sure I am actually getting the recording I want. This defeats the purpose of a series recording.

It never does because blackouts are market-specific. And since the boxes have their listings populated by a service (like Screener), it would take a lot of geocoding to be able to account for blackouts market by market. I don’t think any cable/satellite provider has the wherewithal to do it.

You should be apprised that NBCSN’s Flyers telecasts tonight and Thursday will be blacked out in Philly, and you’ll need to record NBCSP to make sure you get to see the game.
