Can you add just one channel?

Can you add just one channel?

I would like to add MSNBC but right now we're on the most basic cable plan. In order for us to get this channel we would have to jump up 2 packages. It seems like a waste since it is only that one station that I want and we hardly watch TV as it is. Why is that anyway? Fox is on the least expensive plan but MSNBC is more expensive. Doesn't make much sense. Can we add just this channel?

No, Comcast only allows you to add/remove channels in "tiers".

According to the sticky you can request a single channel.

I bet it's a common channel request, and I don't want to start any conspiracy theories, but why would comcast make us pay more for the left leaning MSNBC channel? I have always wondered why.

That's to request to Comcast to include a "New Channel" in one of their existing tiers, not include a single  existing channel in a customers bundle.
