Xfinity Home iOS app version 5.4.8 - app stuck while downloading

I tried to update my Home app to 5.4.8, but it is stuck at the download stage. My internet connection is fine. I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, and also rebooting my iPad Air and iPhone 4s. Nothing works. Both devices running iOS 7.1.1. The iPad is a wifi only model, and the iPhone is a Sprint 4s. Currently I have no functionality from the app. I can't even launch it. The icon is dark and says "waiting" under it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Brian

Sorry to hear you're having problems downloading the new app. Please try the following:

  • Go into iTunes
  • Click on the View menu, Show Downloads or press Ctrl + Shift + 3 to bring up the Show Downloads dialog.
  • Look for stuck downloads there. Delete all the downloads in progress in iTunes and then try downloading apps again.

Re: Xfinity Home iOS app version 5.4.8 - app stuck while downloading

Hi ComcastRoh,

I'm sorry I didn't think to put this in my first post. I haven't sync'd either of these devices to a computer with iTunes. They back up to iCloud, and all my app downloads and updates are handled directly from the App Store. Since I've posted earlier, I've tried deleting the app from Settings/Usage/Storage in addition to the tap and hold to delete method. That hasn't allowed me to successfully reinstall or update either.

Hi Brian - could you try the following:

  • On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID.
  • Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPhone/iPad and then slide to shut off.
  • Power up the iPhone/iPad again.
  • Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again.
  • Tap the stuck "Home" icon if necessary to restart the download.

That appears to also not have worked. I just tried downloading a different app all together, and it installed like normal. Any other thoughts?

And thank you for helping, I appreciate your efforts.

Other suggestions:

  • Sometimes downloading a new paid app can resolve the issue.
  • You could also reset, but you'll have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again which you may not want to do - it can be a pain and time-consuming to do.

If you want to try this, reset all settings by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

Thank you ComcastRoh, the reset was the solution.

Brian - I'm glad the reset option worked and you're now able to use the app.

I would say it's the last option - I think it's easier and less painful to go through all the other solutions documented above before trying the reset option as a last resort.
Fortunately these are all in the thread for anyone experiencing similar issues.

Thanks for your patience while trouble-shooting and I hope you enjoy using the app.
