VERIFYING COMCAST TELEPHONE NUMBER

Some one called me and said he is calling from Comcast concerning internet issues but the number did not reflect as Comcast. For security reasons I want to know if this telephone number is for COMCAST

Whenever you are unsure about a message claiming to be from Comcast, check with them using the phone number printed on your bill, or one of the methods listed on the official "Contact Us" page at http://customer.xfinity.com/contact-us/. That page should list 1-800-Xfinity (1-800-934-6489) or 1-800-Comcast (1-800-266-2278), and a link for Chat: https://www.comcastsupport.com/chatentry/.

 

If the regular reps can't help you, try Comcast Security Assurance at 1-888-565-4329 (from http://constantguard.comcast.net/help/report-abuse/).

BTW whenever I need to check out a number - I have found 800 notes to be a good source.

But...... the 800notes is split about 50/50 of people stating it is really Comcasdt and those saying it's bogus....

I have been getting these calls for a month.  Recently, Comcast told me to BLOCK this phone number.....so I guess I am in the camp of "bogus"

okay some jimmy jack called me about internet connention problem, with the modum...at # 844-482-6747   its a scam..all Comcast # 800

The Jimmy Jack wanted to take control of your computer....I was pretty happy that he called and I gave him a run for hie money ..Take care and watch all scammers with 844 numbers...

According to the message posted by employee ComcastAndrew at http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Customer-Service/Voicemail-from-844-482-6747-claims-to-be-from-Comcast-..., 844-482-6747 is legitimate and safe to call.

 

Receiving a call from that number is another matter, since scammers can spoof their caller ID to make it look like they are calling from Comcast when they are actually not.

Hello all,

BruceW is correct, this is a spoofing scam. We will never ask for money, ask to access your account, or want to take over your computer. Also, if you are to get a call stating they are Comcast and want to offer you a better promo, beware of this tactic as well.

Ridiculous !   Comcast can NOT give a straight answer to these "signal leakage" and "network monitoring" robo calls........   One day I call Comcast directly and they tell me it is a scam and to BLOCK the 844- phone number, that I have no issue and no open service requests.    Still get more calls - call Comcast direct again and they tell me it IS a legit phone number.   You would think with so MANY posts on this topic that they would distribute info to call center scripts..... Nope !

Hi InTheDetails -- I can clear up any confusion about that number. The number you're receiving calls from is legitimate. You receive calls from that number when signal leakage is identified. You are called to inform you that a tech will need to be scheduled to come resolve that issue. 

 

I can verify if signal leakage is present on your account and if a tech job will be needed. Please send me a PM with your name, full service address, and either phone number or account number for authentication. I will also need to know days/times you're available for a tech in the event there is confirmed signal leakage associated with your account.
