Removal of Norton Security Online and installation of Norton Deluxe 360 or Norton 360 with Lifelock

First of all, this is being posted as an informational only post, although I have been using Norton for many years and have been asssisting on the Norton Forums  for 10 years there are other virus choices out there and every user needs to do their own research to find a fit for their needs and for their budgets.

This is a suggested replacement method of Norton Security Online with the Norton Deluxe 360 or Norton 360 with Lifelock  using the 180 day free trial and reduced rates for Xifinity customers.

A word of advise:

Prior to doing anything, please back up (Export) the Norton password Manager prior to uninstall of NSO.

Export:

Import (If needed)

A few questions I have seen:

  • Does Norton Security Online (NSO) need to be removed from their systems prior to installing the retail Norton?

From the following link:

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-internet-security/20.2.0.19/solutions/v60392881

Locate and follow the "Remove Norton device security completely" portion of the instructions

If you have Norton Family installed, uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.

To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key.

Double-click the NRnR icon.

Read the license agreement, and click Agree.

Click Advanced Options.

Click Remove Only.

Click Remove.

Click Restart Now.

After the computer retarts, please see the following links for installation of Norton Deluxe 360 or Norton 360 with Lifelock

  • Will the new install of Norton pickup the Password Manager entries?

Yes,  If the same Norton Account is used, then the user may continue using Password Manager with the new retail product.   The user must use the same Norton Account (same email and password) used with NSO.
