Switching to a different router?

I currently use an Xfinity Gateway and xFi pods. I'm considering switching over to Eero 6 for my router needs (which would require putting the Gateway into Bridge Mode). However, there's an Xfinity support page about Bridge Mode that says, "If you have already activated xFi Pods, you will not be able to enable Bridge Mode."

Does that mean I can never activate Bridge Mode? Does it mean I need to remove the xFi pods first? It seems really strange that by activating the pods you could never go back.

You can go to bridge mode, the pods just won’t work. what happens when you try?

I haven't tried just yet, mostly because I was tripped up by the language in that article. Earlier in the article, it explicitly says that the pods won't work anymore, so I can't fathom why they would later say that in addition, if you have already activated pods, you can't enable Bridge Mode.

I am in the same boat.  I had already activated my 3 XFi pods a while back but my WiFi onthe XFi modem keeps dropping signals which is unacceptable.  I will use my own WiFi router like you and will need to enable the bridge mode.  I understand it will render the pods useless but I am hoping my signals won't drop anymore (https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Your-Home-Network/Wifi-keeps-dropping-reconnecting/td-p/3364763).  Got myself a smart WiFi router (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087YSYLYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).  I hope it worked for you.
