Not a question and posting my experience

New XB8 gateway was installed since my old xfinity modem had a few connectivity issues.

Everything was a snap and all devices connected to the new gateway.

But, after a couple of weeks, I realized by printer was not on wifi.  Tried several things,

splitting the bands, going thru docs and even spoke to second tier support.  No luck and

they sent me a tech and he came to my home and told me to move to WPA2 instead of WPA3

and that solved the issue.  Yes, WPA3 is better in terms of encryption.

So, I may resort to using WPA3 and only adjust to move to WPA2 when taking printout since

I hardly take any prints..

Hope this may help if someone is scratching their head as to why the new Xfinity modems

may have issues w/ some printers or other devices..

It's quite possible that the gateway will reset to WPA3 when it gets updated.

May be, but I will keep WPA3 by default but will switch to WPA2 when I have to take a print out and switch to WPA3 and it worked

so far and the printer gets connected to wifi (that is, gateway recognizes as one of the connected devices) automatically in WPA2 mode

and when I switch to WPA3, it's gone..

Thanks for adding your expiercience and insighs to the forums. As high lighted above, it may revert back after a reset/update. You could, however, switch back if you find that is best. Have a great day @user_6f54aq

Hi @user_6f54aq,

Thank you for reaching out and creating a new post with your feedback. I understand that WPA3 helped fix your concern, and I appreciate you coming here to let everyone know. I would recommend others visit our WPA overview site here to learn more.

@XfinityVianney Thanks for the pointer.  Actually WPA2 helped and not WPA3..  Surprising that a tier2

person did not recommend that to me.  Also, you can only do this, switching to WPA2, from the App on your phone

and not from logging to 10.0.0.1..
