Ethernet slower than WiFi

So I had a Netgear C6300 with the 500mbps service. This modem/router combo would only put out about 250 Mbps through wireless and 100 through wired connection and wasn’t approved by Xfinity for the speeds I signed up for. So I got a Netgear CM1000 modem, approved for up to 1 gbps, and it would only give a max of 95 Mbps to my router. My router is approved for over 1 gbps second as well. I tried several troubleshooting steps and different Ethernet cords and no change. I though I bought a defective router and so I got a Netgear CM700 with the same result as the CM1000. So I had the Xfinity support person set up my original modem/router combo and then I’m back to speeds around 250 through wireless and 95 wired. This is why I believe it to be an issue with the Ethernet signal from Xfinity. What can I do to get my Ethernet speeds higher?

Had the same issues. If using a browser to do the speedtest, you maybe getting inaccurate results. If using window 10 ,download the ookla speed app from the Microsoft app store and test. Post what happens.

If you are only getting 95 on Ethernet, then your computer either does not support Gigabit Ethernet, or it's somehow defaulting to 100Mbit setting.

Check to see if your computer's ethernet network adapter (NIC) supports 10/100/1000 gigabit port speeds.
