about how important it is to stay connected, then goes on to say you now have one less way to stay connected. I pay over $200 a month for Xfinity. Why can't they just keep the app going? Boooo Xfinity!
Staying connected to friends and family is as important now as it’s ever been –– and we hope Xfinity Voice has allowed you to stay in touch with those who matter most. After a careful evaluation, we’ve decided to discontinue the Xfinity Connect app and Voice2Go feature effective April 20, 2021. You can still conveniently access your email and voicemail, as well as manage your call features and settings, from anywhere with the mobile-optimized Xfinity Connect web portal at connect.xfinity.com.
Rest assured that you can continue to easily access your Comcast email from your mobile device. Here are two options.
Use the Xfinity Connect web portal atconnect.xfinity.com. This site is optimized for your mobile device – and you can bookmark it for easy access from your home screen!
Or you can access your email using a third-party email client, like Outlook, Thunderbird, or the Mail apps native to your iPhone or Android device. These email clients include extra benefits like the ability to add attachments and access your phone contacts. Getstep-by-step instructions.
Add the Xfinity Connect web portal shortcut to your Android or Apple Home screen
Tap theSharebutton on the browser's toolbar (look for the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward at the top of the screen on an iPad or the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone).
Tap theAdd to Home Screenicon in the Share menu.
Note:After Step 4, you'll be able to enter a name for the shortcut then Chrome or Safari will add it to your Home screen.
The mobile-optimized Xfinity Connect web portal (connect.xfinity.com) allows you to easily manage your voicemail.
Listen to your voicemail, have your voicemail transcripts emailed to you using our Readable Voicemail feature, or use the Download Voicemail feature. Getinstructions.
Manage your Xfinity Voice settings, including call history, call logs, and call blocking tools to help you block unwanted spam calls.
For additional information on this change and additional alternative options, please see the Xfinity Connect App and Voice2Go Retirement article. Thank you in advance for your feedback, this thread is now closed from receiving new replies.
Agreed! The app makes it quick and easy to check and respond to email on my smartphone. Making you go thru a web browser is ridiculous. It is slow and clunky. Having separate apps for work email, gmail, and comcast email made it easy. If I had a different option for internet access I would be done with comcast altogether.
@d0ri wrote: Unacceptable! If you're going to discontinue Xfinity Connect at least make an email tab in the My Account app as an alternative. Get it together Comcast - You're not the only game in town!
YES...just add a tab to the Account App. How can they say there is not enough use of the Connect App to keep it around. Seriously Comcast? One of the main functions of using the phone is to check email.
This is a horrible idea Comcast! The app is clunky and slow but not nearly as clunky and slow using an internet brower on your mobile phone to check email multiple times an hour will be. You should be focused on expanding your apps not taking them away. Your a $250B company, surely you can figure out how to offer an app for emails. Heck, do what you do with Xfinity Mobile by piggy backing Verizon's network, contract with a vendor (Gmail) to host your email service if you don't want to invest in developing a new app yourself. #JustWhenUthinkComcastCouldn'tGetWorse
ABSOLUTELY! Checking email with the app is so very convenient and provides instant access to email. Having to open a browser and deal with typing the URL and navigating takes is a waste of time when wanting to check email frequently. My app is never clunky....as soon as I tap it ...VOILA. I cannot imagine having to use a browser every time I want to check my email on my phone or tablet.
I have my app set to receive notifications so that when I receive a call on my landline, I get a notification that immediately pops up on my iphone--which is really convenient when I'm not at home. Will this be going away too or is there a workaround?
And agree that it's a terrible idea to take away the app.
Just a note that one option is to use Outlook. It does support multiple services. I just added my Comcast account to it. Just type in your email address, choose an IMAP account, and fill in the passwords. It already knows the servers and ports needed.
Instead of retireing a useful service that has low? usage, you should try to INFORM your customers that the App is available on APP Stores via an email. Many subscibers don't know about it. This is called MARKETING.
The retirement of 'Connect' is a terrible idea. And the alternative provided (use a web site to fetch mail) is absurd. Using connect on smart phones and tablets cannot be replaced by a web site. How will I get notified of new mail?
Trying to redirect Comcast email via Apple Mail provides its own set of problems: e.g., no folders shown and you can't create new ones
Please provide a viable alternative for those of us who rely on this app.

Andy..... SOUNDS GOOD. I use full blown MS Office Outlook as email client on my desktop and could not live without it as its very versatile and has many features I use which Xfinity email does not. I only use the Xfinity email on my desktop when my Outlook gets cranky but just to look at the incoming emails or send one. I just added the Outlook app to my phone and clicked on 'add account' and there are many email domain choices but comcast.net is not one of them. So....I put in my comcast email and password and selected IMAP and when I looked at the advanced settings it did populate the server, etc but there was no place to 'submit' and when I open the Outlook app again it asks me to add account or create new account again. What am I doing wrong? If you would please help me I would really appreciate it and we probably should do it with a Private Message. Please help! Thanks
Terri
UPDATE: GOT IT DONE.....this will work for me unless by some miracle Comcast decides NOT to retire Xfinity Connect.
The fall of them saying in the notice that it's more important than ever to stay connected and then take away the way we do so. Infuriating! Call Comcast.
Do Not retire the email portion of the APP. Why would anyone with a smart phone spend time logging into an internet page when you can just clickon the app and check your email. Sounds like Comcast wants to take a step back on techological advances
