Xfinity app

Today Google play let me know that my phone is no longer compatible to use with the app. My phone is only a few years old, I don't understand. I use the app to control my Wi-Fi amongst the house.

This is question is not public? How do I go about making sure it is?

This is question is not public? ...

It is actually. The poorly worded "post publicly" advice in Expert and Employee signature blocks is not directed at you. It appears in all messages they post, and is intended to discourage customers from sending a Private message before they are asked to do so. They should have come up with more reasonable wording for that message YEARS ago.

I have the same issue as well. Hoping for a solution that doesn't require me to get a new phone.

Thank you for reaching out to us @user_2dmkjo! I use the Xfinity app to check my video doorbell practically every day. I completely understand how important this is. Could you please confirm the current Android OS installed on your phone?

@user_32grpb thank you for confirming you're on Android 11. I found this helpful document on our website regarding the Xfinity App requirements: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/using-xfinity-app

It does mention it works with Android 10 or later operating systems, but doesn't work with Windows or Amazon phones.

user_yt2oj4 Your phone's hardware, region, or Android OS version does not meet the developer's specific requirements. That's why you're receiving that message. Is your phone currently updated? If not, can you please check to see if your phone has an update that's needed?

My phone is updated with latest Android version and working perfectly. It is not my phone issue, it is the Xfinity Android issue where it can be fixed.

Thank you for the information @user_yt2oj4. Have you tried deleting the app and downloading it again?

Hi @user_lhu5tu Thank you for reaching out, The Xfinity app has been updated, and now requires the Android 12 operating system or higher. In the Google Play Store if you locate the app and click "about this app" it will detail the required operating system.

Yes, it looks like our devices will have to have the Android system later than 11.

When I called they tried and still not able to redownload the app.

Oh dear. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/using-xfinity-app says "Works with Android (10.0 or later)". Yeah, MUCH later!

C'mon Comcast/Xfinity. Do better!
