Modems and phone service

We recently installed cable modem model TG3482G, and we uninstalled voice and data modem model Cisco DPC3941T.  Now we have no dial tone on our phone.  Our cable and internet are working fine.  Are we supposed to run both modems, or is there a way to have phone service with only the cable modem?

The TG3482G is an XB6 gateway that provides Internet access as well as their home phone service just like the Cisco did -- see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/broadband-gateways-userguides. But when you change devices it often seems to take them a day or two to make the necessary changes on their systems to provide phone service on the new device. Calling customer service at 1-800-Xfinity might speed things up.
