Sending Comcast Email

Are you aware that when the Xfinity VPN is turned on, emails can’t be sent from the Comcast outgoing mail (SMTP) server, smtp.comcast.net, on an iPad? When I turn the VPN off, it works fine. Not sure if this just started with the latest iOS update to 26.5 or not, as I just started using the VPN and discovered this issue.

Yes, comcast.net email does not play well with VPNs.  Turn them off and sending of email should work.

user_zyvj57, hello there and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are aware that in some cases, enabling the Xfinity VPN can interfere with outgoing email connections through smtp.comcast.net, particularly on Apple devices such as iPads. Based on what you described, the VPN is likely affecting the SMTP authentication or connection routing.

At this time, turning the VPN off is the recommended workaround if you need to send emails through the Comcast outgoing mail server. We also recommend ensuring your outgoing mail settings are using SSL enabled with the correct port settings.

Since you mentioned this may have started around the latest iOS/iPadOS update, it’s possible there could be compatibility changes contributing to the behavior as well. I appreciate you reporting the issue and sharing those details. Let me know if I can be more of assistance for you. 😀
