"It's Time For A Modem Update" email from Comcast.

A little over a week ago, I purchased a new modem (Arris SURFboard 6183) to replace my previous modem that Comcast no longer supported.

Today I received an email from Comcast (see attached screenshot) stating I needed to get a new modem to take advantage of current internet speed.

So then I checked the Xfinity website and it (still) says my modem is supported (speed up to 373 Mbps).

My current Xfinity Internet service supports speed up to 150 Mbps.

So what's the deal here?

Your 6183 is fine for your speed tier. You can disregard the email message.

Possible you have an older device still lingering on the account? Think I'd call in to be sure.

That might explain the bizarre "modem not connected" status in the Xfinity My Account app...
