Do you have their home networking package, and are you referring to the Comcast supplied gateway device ?

Without knowing which particular brand that you have, you can try using Comcast for the user name and 1234 for the password.

I have business class. When I put in the ip address I get a login screen. It has admin as the user name. I don't know the password. Why is this stuff so hard.

PS. When I do the 192.168.1.1 it logs into my router.

thanks for the help.

Oh, o/k. Call in for support.

BTW, is that the SMC gateway device ? You didn't post the make and model..

Is it an SMC8013WG-CCR ?

Try these:

cusadmin for the username, and highspeed for the password.

I am not at work now so don't know the make and model. I did contact support, but on the chat support site. I got absolutely nowhere! Why do I think I shouldn't be surprised by that?

SMC8014 is the model number. None of those logins worked. Guess I have to call them. Thanks for the help.

You stated earlier the user name was "admin" and needed the default password. Have you tried the following logon from this link posted earlier? http://www.smc.com/files/AA/MN_SMC8014-BIZ.pdf

User Login – for use by subscriber

USERNAME: cusadmin

PASSWORD: password

Notice the difference in user name.

I notice a difference in the *password* that you posted, not the *username* that you posted..

I previously posted cusadmin as the *username*...

Comcast likely loads a custom firmware into that gateway.

They also likely use a custom password, or username, or both.

Support should be called.
