The 7000 is the newest of the Netgear line of routers. It is a AC standard router so that means all connected devices must be able to connect to the 5ghz band and also support the new AC standard to get the highest speeds the router can do. It does also support the older B,G and N standards. Bottom line unless your devices are AC standard then you can find a duel band N router that is much cheaper and will work just as good for you. The Asus RT-N66U is a good one that comes to mind. Its all up to what you want there are many options out there. You can also google Netgear forums and read what owners of this new router are saying about it. Good luck !
