I just purchased the 6141 from Best Buy today and tried setting up the modem. Apparently Comcast is unable to setup the modem because it's outdated or the product is no longer compatible.

It's doc3 and I know several people that use this modem, so I know it should work.

They just placed it on their "End Of Life" list this month;

Good find Paraniod, thanks. Seems premature to put an 8x4 channel modem on the EOL list.

Yeah, there's the Zoom 5431j too, I'm pretty sure it's a mistake, but you never know with Comcast. Smiley Happy

This thread scared me a little bit since a lot of people INCLUDING MYSELF has this modem.

Thank god it was just a misunderstanding.  Although, when would be a good time to switch out the 6141 for the 6183 for the people that are curious about a possible EOL coming up for their 6141s?

It would have only affected a person currently who would try to get a new retail one activated for service or if you discontinued your service (or moved) and tried to get it reactivated. Or if you sold it to someone and they tried to get it activated. They would not have suddenly disabled yours.

Depends largely on your speed tier. But having a fatter pipe is always good for capacity / congestion problems if you happen to be on a crowded cable segment and especially at rush hour. Many areas now offer 16 downstreams and more and more are being actively upgraded.

I wouldn't be too hasty. I think that could well be a mistake on Comcast's EOL list:

I am going to look into this on Monday. I believe this is a content error. Do not consider these modems EOL until I confirm.

What's the latest on the SB6141?  I received an action needed email today that my modem which I own is going to no longer be supported.

Something fishy going on.  Now say EOL-no!

Arris Retail SURFboard Cable Modem

Device Details

Make: Arris
Model: SB6141 (Retail)
Retail: Yes
Device Type: CableModem
DOCSIS Version: 3.0
End of Life? No
Certification:

also, I activated my service on 1/6/16, and now on 1/25 the CSR is telling me my 6141 is EOL.

AMAZING HOW COMCAST COMMUNICATES SO WELL...
