Error 500 - How do I fix?

This is the error message received.  How do I fix it? Error 500--Internal Server Error

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1: 10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.

I have continued encounting this problem with comcast, can you please advise how I may fix it?  Comcast, of course, offers no help at all. thank you.
