Does Comcast Block Sites at Certain Times?

Posted by

There is a forum I frequent and for the last several months I have a very difficult time accessing it at night.  I am constantly getting Timeout Errors.  Yet when I try to access the same site through an anonymous proxy or through my cell phone I connect no problem.

This leads me to believe Comcast is selectively blocking sites at certain times, though I may be wrong.  Does anyone know if Comcast does this sort of thing?

No comcast does not block any website but there can still be a night time issue somewhere between you and the website.

Is it over seas?

It might also be too many users at that site at night time and they kick some off.

Is it a forum that can be posted here?

We will look at it.

I'm guessing that you are saying that you are successful with other accessing mechanisms at the same time you cannot get through with Comcast.

Is it possible that the server on the other end is blocking (or limiting) incoming traffic from Comcast-based IP numbers?

It's our understanding as customers that Comcast does not do selective blocking by time.

The server, I believe, is in Germany.  The company is Host Europe.  The URL is http://www.fanedit.org/forums.  It generally happens between 7pm and 1am CST.

It would appear that certain WAN (public IP) addys being issued by CC are being blocked by that site for whatever the reason might be..

I (OP) is in Chicago as well.  The connection, for whatever reason, between 7pm and 1am CST comes and goes.  Very sporadic but usually no connection more than connecting.

As for specific WAN being blocked, I haven't rebooted my computer, modem or router in several days so the IP should be the same.  The connection works fine during the day, just in the evening it has problems.
