I'll be replacing an Asus RT-AC68U router with an Arris TG1682G. Wondering if it has the same or a better range without the use of extenders? Also, can I expect the same or better up and download speeds?

I had the same router as you before I went to the Arris TG1682G and unfortunately the range of the wifi is about half of the Asus RT-AC68U router. I had to get a range extender to make up for the short wifi distance of the Arris TG1681G. I used to have a Cisco DPC 3941T and I belive it had much more wifi range than the Arris. Good Luck.

Thanks for the information about range and these routers. I'm going to give this some serious consideration.

FWIW, just in case you didn't know, the 1682 is a combo gateway device that has a built in cable modem as well, so you won't be needing the stand-alone cable modem that you were using with RT-AC68U anymore either.
