cable box ethernet jack

I just upgraded to the HD service- good stuff. When I was hooking up the cable box to my tv, I noticed an ethernet port on the back. Does anybody know what this is for? I thought it might work as a cabel modem, and since I am signed up for comcast high speed internet, I tried hooking it up to my playstation 3, but couldn't get a connection. Is there some sort of package I have to buy?

Re: cable box ethernet jack

I don't think the port is active (at least on the moto boxes).  The boxes are designed to be an all in one device but a majority of the ports (non video/audio out) are deactivated.
