When I pause internet to a macbook pro, while all other sites are blocked, google related sites are not. I can go to google.com, run a search, click on videos and view youtube videos. I can login to gmail and chat on hangouts. Since these are the two main activities I am trying to block, this feature is kind of useless.....anyone else has success blocking google when interner is paused on a device?

It blocks google and youtube on my iPhone 6s when I pause it and my Windows PC, and Linux CentOS 7 and Linux Mint 18.1. It has to do with https protocol. When you end up using http you get paused screen and with https you get a connection error. Did you try clearing history and cache?

Same issue. Sometimes it pauses and sometimes it doesn't. Both when xFi app shows the device is paused.

Apologies for the delayed response. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the Pause feature in xFi. Pausing a device will block internet access when the device is connected to the home network. In progress activity (ex. online streaming) may not stop immediately.
Additionally, pausing devices does not block access to the xfinitywifi hotspots and/or cellular networks.

Can you verify that the device you are trying to pause is not defaulting to the "xfinitywifi" hotspot?

If it appears that your paused device is connected to your home network wifi and still accessing the internet, please let me know and I can escalate this issue to the proper team for resolution.
