Kindle Fire won't connect to my new Xfinity WiFi system (installed six days ago)

I had Xfinity TV and internet installed six days ago and haven't been able to get my Kindle Fire pad to stay connected to the Xfinity wifi.   When it does connect I have one or two bars even though I'm right next to the router... but I lose the connection when I try to go to the internet or use my "Mayday" online help function.  Anyone have a suggestion to get my Kindle Fire running?  It worked fine with the ATT Uverse internet I had.
