Delete emails across devices

When I delete an email in the app on my iPad it does not delete on my iPhone and vice versa. This is since the iOS 10 update. It used to be when I deleted an email on one device it did not appear on the other device

Ensure you setup your email as IMAP instead of POP3.   POP3 is for business use where you only want email to download to 1 device (desktop PC) and not be stored on a server or shared across devices.  IMAP stores your email on a server and shares it across devices.  If you delete an email from an IMAP device it will delete it across all of your other devices too.

Not really. Residential as well as business customers can use POP or IMAP, whichever works best for them.
