xfinity video won't play in chrome 38

Playing video in chrome 38 produces an error and link to instructions about allowing Adobe Access streams. After putting in an exception for comcast.com it still doesn't work. (and i dont see any flash challenge)

Re: xfinity video won't play in chrome 38

Jeskeca,

We were just alerted to several patches Adobe deployed that may break their Primetime player used on Xfinity. Can you validate your Chrome plugins by going to chrome://plugins/ in your browser?

From there hit the + button next to Details in the top right to expand all plugin details.

You may see 2 versions of Flash, if you see anything with "PepperFlash" in it, attempt to disable it and restart your browser. This version 15 was introduced this week with the latest Chrome release for Mac and PC. Let me know if disabling it fixes your issue. The only other alternative is to temporarily use another browser until we can work with Adobe to correct this issue.

I spoke too soon. The system with both v15 like you showed will now play video in the browser but it will not cast to the chromecast. Content other than the video will cast though. Our other system showing v 15 and v11 below works without any modifiction.

Re: xfinity video won't play in chrome 38

snowkat,

Here was another post I updated Friday that may help. Even though these 3313 errors mostly impacted IE, the Adobe labs version of FP15 may fix your Problem as well. See below...

We have been working with Adobe and here is the more recommended path, so you can re-enable Protected mode and do one of the following:

MSFT changed the protected path in Windows and broke Adobe. This happens when the machine has Protected Mode enabled. Adobe is aware and is attempting a fix worst case scenario this will be patched by Sep 23rd.

  • Impacted Devices: Win7+/All versions of IE. The increase in 3313 errors appears to be limited toFlash Player version 15 in Internet Explorer on Windows 7.
  • Products Impacted: TV Go Web playback for TV shows/movies or live streaming

Customer Workarounds:

1.) Install the latest version 15 beta released September 10th, which can be downloaded from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html (Recommended)

2.) Alternative browsers, since the issue appears to only occur in Internet Explorer.

The next regular service update to the Flash Player by Adobe is expected to fully resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Matt
