can't select device to change the channels on from the tv-listing website

up to yesterday all was fine. Last night I tried to change the channel form the tv-listng website using my laptop. I was presented with a pop up containg devices I could control. The device, my family room dvr, was not in the list. I selected one of the devicess and am now able to change the channels on that tv. When I try to change channels again, I am NOT presented teh popup and all channel changes go to the device I picked from the popup earlier. I do have a service appointment for tomorrow, but I thing there is a webpage problem. How do I get to pick the device I want to control?

the remote works and the iphone apps all work. It's just the website that doesn't work

So you are attempting to change the channel from the pc?

Ya I would never use that option, so I would wait for someone on the forum to give a reply on this!

Not judging here, just have never used that feature at all! My computer is connected to my projector so I would have toggle over every time!

This is happening to me also, last night 9/9/2014 was the first time I could not select the family room device (which is the DVR).  I can see all the other devices (all of these are just the regular device not the DVR).  I also think this is a problem with the comcast TV listing webpage.  When I go to the DVR page or the ON Demand page the Family room device is on the list and I can select it, it's only the TV listing webpage that will not show the Family Room device.

 

Working with the online techs (I was passed around to four different techs), we tried reseting the main cable box; the TV/DVR box; unplugging everything; using different computers; using IE, Chrome, and Firefox.  Nothing would fix the problem, it has to be Comcast TV Listing Webpage.

 

Still waiting for comcast to call me back on this problem.  I don't think they want to look at their webpage as being the problem.  Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.  I hope they get this fixed as I use this all the time to choose what to watch and change the channel.

Something odd is häppening to the web browser app.  On the tv listing page.  Last night, 9/9/2014, was the first time I could not select the family room device (which is the X1 DVR).  I can see both devices (the familyroom device and the bedroom device) on the 'manage devices' and the 'saved' pages..   Only the TV listing webpage that will not show the Family Room device.

 

I can get to the family room device on my appl devices using the tv remote app, but not using the web browser.  Again, the tv-listing page is the only page that I have found that has the problem.

Same problem is happening to me, unable to select my DVR from the “Select A Device” dropdown. Everything else seems to be working fine. This is clearly a bug with the web site. Can someone from Comcast please respond? Very annoying.

I have reached out to someone at Comcast that deals with these issues.

Bare with the issue as it may take some time!

Happening to me too. A bug in the web page. Hope they have this fixed quickly.

Unfortunately this will not be fixed until the end of the month.  You can use the XFINITY TV Remote app as a workaround  until this issue has been resolved.

Arggg... frustrating, since I use the online guide to navigate and switch channels, too. But I do appreciate it when a rep responds, even if it's to say that the company is aware of the problem and is working on it. A response that may not be the answer we want is better than a complete lack of information. Thanks.

Same issue here ... tried multiple browsers and multiple PCs and same result ... can't select one of my cable boxes.

 

Have tried multiple support people and had everything reset with no luck.

 

Hope it is fixed soon ...

They haven't really taken it away. It was simply a goof from the web designer on a recent redesign of the site. It using the same method as your app on your smart phone, which triggers the box to change the channel.

I am having the same problem. It is NOT your laptop or connection. This also happened to us 2 weeks ago. Exact same issue.

you can use your TV Remote or use the XFINITY TV Remote app for iOS and Android Devices

May have spoken too soon. My DVR device appears in the ON DEMAND screen. However, I do not see it on TV LISTINGS.

I see that they have loaded new firmware on some of the stb for some people, but not all. Could very well be waiting for those stb get firmware updates for them to fix that. I looked at comcast chad , and it is showing he is offline will try later.

WOW!!! Another delay. Especially when it looks to be working in other screens (ON DEMAND). Can't be much different code, cut and paste, cut and paste.

The end of thhe month has come annd gone. It's still not fixed. Any update as to when it will be fixed?  OOPS, I just saw the 10/14 date.

Hi Chad , Ive seen your postings regarding the issues with being able to change the channel on my tv via my PC. I the an X1 box and an HD dvr. I could perform channel changes up until roughly 5-6 weeks ago. Many people have the same issue I gather ffrom the postings.

Aan odd thing I noticed today was that I was visiting my family and logged into my mothers account to update some call blocking. I figured I would try changing her TV chaannel via my pc.....Unbelieveably it worked.....

 

I returned to my home tonight and logged into my account and tried changing the channel and got the same error message " no compatible cable boxs were found in your house hold....

 

Is it a web page issue or is it the box I have is malfunctioning? Any ideas? Thanks Dan

its 10/14.  its still not working.

 

the listing page is hard-set to one dvr in the house and there is no wat to chänge it to the other dvr.

 

this is only on the tv-listing page. 

 

other pages are working wine

  Its a web page issue, notthing to do with the box.

Hi Chad,

 

I know you're just a messenger, but if I were you I would ask those developers to give you a more realistic estimate of the resolution, instead of elevating hopes and then dash them again and again. To me, this is just an annoyance, and not a critical feature therefore it's not so bad; others may think otherwise. But if it were a critical feature and there's no workaround, I would be pretty sore about how this has been handled.

Still not working. In fact, it's gotten worse, the guide channel page doesn't even load now.

Below is what I'm treated to when I click :TV Listings". I'd like to think I'm a patient person, but it's been over a month.The Obama healthcare site was fixed quicker. C'Mon Comcast!!!

it's working...now.

 

to anyone still experencing a problem:

       click on the dvr name displayed (not the arrow...the arrow doesn't work)

       wait up to 30 secs and the list of availabe dvrs will be displayed.
