I pulled your account and you have the X1 Platform cable boxes. You are able to control your boxes using the X1 Remote App to control your boxes from your smartphone or tablet.

Yes that is correct, that feature also works with the X1 Platform boxes.
can't you switch to different channels using the TV listings guide?
I don't know why the Comcast tech says "Control of the cable boxes from a computer is not available at this time. Only via the X1 Remote app." I say that is totally false. I have been changing channels from my PC (not smartphone or tablet) for a few years now. It worked with the legacy boxes and it works with the X1 boxes. If I go to http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv-listings and pick a show from the list, I can click the "WATCH ON TV" button and it will tune my TV to that particular channel. Granted, the only thing I can do is change the channel, but at least that is something.
Yes, I was mistaken in thinking that this feature was only available for our Legacy equipment. Like I stated above, that feature is also available with our X1 Platform equipment.
