Xfinity insists I'm not on my home network, but I am

There is an older url for watching online:

http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/watch-live-tv?cid=customer

Works fine, well except there is only audio.

Message comes up that my home network is verified and program starts (only audio)

Now there is a link there to the new improved xfinity....

https://tv.xfinity.com/foryou

Beauty of an interface and a listings page with all current channels.

Each has a "watch" word to click on.

Then site says I'm not on my home network.

So eather way I cannot watch on my laptop.

Is this a known issue or am I just cheated out of what I am paying for?

Couple of things you can try.

  1. Reboot your cable modem.
  2. If that doesn't fix the problem, go to https://customer.xfinity.com/MyServices/Internet and logon with your primary user account.  Then check that the modem serial number you have in your house matches what is displayed on the webpage.

If there is a mismatch in modem information, you will need to call Comsast and have them fix it.

If neither works, I guess you will still have to call into Comcast.  Good luck.

Do not try any fixes posted none will work in the long run. It is not your system it is Comcast.  This problem has always existed since the service first rolled out in its initial tests.  There is a post in this forum that goes back 2 years:

http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-TV-Website-Mobile-Apps/Xfinity-X1-TV-app-is-showing-quot-Out-of...

And other posts online go back to 2012.

There is no fix and they have shown no intention of fixing it.

If you are paying for this as a seperate service then you have been paying for a service that has never worked and should never have been sold.

Why should the OP not try any of these fixes??  My Live Cloud TV has worked for over 1 1/2 years already.  Maybe a small subset of users are having issues, but the OP should at least try to fix an issue if they are having one.  I have had the "Out of Home" error a few times, but it either got fixed by Comcast or just rebooting the modem solved the problem.  Not sure what the OP has to lose by at least trying.
