Xfinity Player

How do I upgrade my xfinity player?

Accepted Solution

Re: Xfinity Player

AH HA, IT WORKS!  Thanks Joe. I don't know what the problem was but it works Ok now in Firefox and I don't care whether it works in the other browsers or not because I never use them.

I would like to urge Comcast to dump MS Silverlight for something more standards compliant and less finicky than Microsoft software because many users use Apple computers and I am beginning to use Linux more and more.

Thank you for your help,

~ Ron

Try using a different web browser and let me know if it works. This is not a permanent solution but it will help us narrow down your issue.

Re: Xfinity Player

Yes, it is still an issue with IE 9.0.8112.16421 (64-bit Edition), Firefox 15.0, and Opera 12.02 on a laptop running 64-bit MS Vista with latest system and security updates.

You are getting a message telling you you need to upgrade your Xfinity Player on all browsers?

If so, Please go to www.xfinitytv.com/computer and copy the information you see on-screen and paste it in this thread so we can further assist you.

Also, please send the URLs of the videos that you are trying to watch.

Re: Xfinity Player

The URL of one of the videos that I tried to watch is:

Opera is not compatible with XFINITY.com/tv.

Also, Silverlight is not compatible for Vista users using Internet Explorer 9 64-bit. Make sure you are using the 32-bit version of IE9 and not the 64-bit version.

Firefox should be working and it is giving you a message that you need to upgrade, which is correct.

Completely uninstall Silverlight from your computer. Then download and install Silverlight from the link below:

Windows users

This is a patched version that fixes most video playback issues and gets you out of the "Please install/upgrade Silverlight" loop.

Follow all the on-screen instructions and then try playing videos again. Let me know the results.

Thanks,
Joe
