Xfinity Instant TV on Roku audio is now 2 channel stereo only...

Xfinity Instant TV on Roku audio is now 2 channel stereo only...

Until approx. 2 days ago most of the live HD channels and on demand content I watch had Dolby Digital + audio output from my Roku. Now everything is only 2 channel stereo. I checked all connections and settings (even though I hadn't changed anything). Did the audio stream quality change for some reason? Other services (Netflix / Amazon) are still coming through in DD+.

if you go into Roku settings, audio is audio mode set to auto (Dolby D)?

It is set to auto detect, and DD+ / DTS capability is auto detected via HDMI connection. The ROKU is connected directly to my AVR which can decode all these formats. It was working fine until earlier this week.

would you try direct connect to TV (ARC back to receiver) and see if audio works that way?

That doesn't make any difference. Can someone confirm that Xfinity Instant TV does in fact currently have Dolby Digital+ and/or standard DD 5.1 audio with programming originally broadcast in that format?

sfeller, sorry for the delay. We are a bit behind. 

 

I have not heard of Dolby Digital Plus falling off of the stream app for Roku players. I've reached out to our engineers to confirm what's going on. In the meantime, we can troubleshoot your issue and see if it is an error rather than a planned change. 

 

 

Did you do any updates to the stream app between now and 2 days ago? Can you send me a private message with your name and account related phone number so I can check things out on my end?

Just got an update. The DD+ support was removed from the 2.4 release that went out on 4/10. It was removed due to related audio issues on linear and on demand streams.

This is disappointing. Are the related audio issues being addressed so that at some point DD+ support will be brought back? It was working fine for me and I hadn't noticed any other audio problems.

sfeller, the defect is being tracked as we speak and is being worked by our engineers. I would expect that once the issue is resolved, DD+ support will be brought back to the table.
