Why can't I use Chromecast with the Stream app?

Why can't I use Chromecast with the Stream app?

I am absolutely furious right now. All I want to do is watch Black Sails on Starz on the treadmill by using the app on my phone and casting it to the TV. The Stream app blocks this. I can't use the Starz app because Xfinity is no longer supported, even though every other provider is. I'm paying over $200 a month to have access to this programming, this is not OK. When will Xfinity put its customers first. I'm very tempted to ditch Xfinity altogether.

This is NOT a Comcast issue, all the networks are determined by the network. If another company offers it it's because they were able to work out an agreement. Comcast has ZERO benefit in limiting their customers access through other means. It's all going to be app based anyways so give us some time and I promise you'll be happy! Hope it works out for you

Having same problem with WGN. Will drop Comcast after contract.

This really isn't Comcast's fault. The networks want tight control of what devices are used. It's up to the deals made between Comcast and the networks and media companies. It would probably cost Comcast more $$$ in rights if they allowed casting since the networks would want more money for viewing on a 'real' TV instead of a mobile device.

They sure do have an interest! Chromecast will make it so you don't need to rent the little boxes to watch on any TV in your house!

Yeah right! They would prefer you just lease another set top box for that television, charging you another $10 a month.

Yes, this IS a Comcast issue...Comcast and Google are top-tier players in the media industry,

and they need to get together and make this possible to 'cast' from the Comcast 'Stream to TV'

app.

Like some others here, I'll move from Comcast to another TV-provider, if can find a provider

that does allow me to stream from my tablet via Chromecast.

Has anyone here done any experiments, trying to use any of DIRECTV or Dish network or FiOS for this?

Doesn't make sense that you could stream from a Windows PC but not from an Andorid or IOS device.  Has to be some profits being affected somewhere.  Pretty discusting if you ask me.

Its allowed on a pc because there is no operating function that would tell the website that an hdmi cable or casting device is sending signal to a tv. There is on moble devices.

Re: Why can't I use Chromecast with the Stream app?

This seemed like a great idea, and so my family and I signed up for the month trial, but then we discovered streaming Xfinity to our TV is nonfunctional in its current form, which is a dealbreaker. Why isn't the problem with Chromecast not at the top of the order page where people can see it?

Customers should be made aware of the incompatibility with CHROMECAST devices in bold, on the top of the agreement, before they finish the order. The Google Chromecast is the most widely adopted stream/cast device today, and is in the hands of many customers.

Let us know when you have a functional xfinity app for chromecast to make this work for your customers. We will cancel our trial and wait until you straighten this out. We won't be paying Comcast one red cent more unless our channels show up on all our devices.

Re: Why can't I use Chromecast with the Stream app?

I've just spent the last couple hours trying to find a way to get my xfinity streaming channels to stream on my smartTV using a chromecast, and this is what I've found. It is, of course a Comcast / Google issue.

Many channels and content creators(with a base subscription) DO allow their content to be streamed over the chromecast/other dongle device to a TV, over various smartTVs with cerrtain OSes, and using certain services, such as Rokhu and Sling. Comcast *can* work with google to make this work securely and reliably.

I previously used Sling but *did not have a cable package at that time*, so it was not cost effective and I cancelled it.

Comcast just offered me streaming Live/other/premiumn channels on "TVs, phones, tablets, and devices" for a fee, and I went ahead and paid for that new package. I went to try Sling again today and was going to connect it to my Comcast subscription, but they have totally changed their offerings. Now you can ONLY buy streaming channels/packages direct from Sling without an external cable subscription, so your existing comcast subscription is useless. (I may switch to this once I determine quality, reliability, library)

Rokhu wants you to buy their hardware and (last I checked) connect it to a physical cable box in the home, which then allows it to be streamed to various devices. This is costly and not an improvements, and the issue should be solved by Comcast not 3rd party vendors.

All Comcast/Xfinity needs to do is make their Xfinity Stream TV app work with the Chromecast, or with Samsung Smart TVs, etc.
