When will Comcast stop using Flash?

When will Comcast stop using Flash?

Read today that Firefox will start restricting some Flash usage in August, and next year, Flash content will be 'click to play'. Chrome already apparently does this.

When will Comcast finally get with it and move to HTML5?

Re: When will Comcast stop using Flash?

While what you state is true, your are missing the otherside of the equation.

The major market for pushing apps that use streaming video to show television programs, movies, etc. are the current smart-phones, I-pads, android phones and pads, etc. That would include up to 3 year old devices (maybe older) that the vast majority of the public owns.

How many of these devices can easily be updated to handle both HTML5 and flash?

Frankly; I only watch TV on our 65" UHD 3D TV, or the older 40" HD TV. I don't see the need for watching TV on a 5" or 9" screen. I did that back in the 80's when camping. I use the UHD Sampler App to get some UHD (4k) programs from Comcast. No 4k content available yet OTA, or on linear cable.

Broad-band high speed streaming is the only real route for now. That means You Tube, Netfix, and a few other new apps. The sampler app is their token offer to keep some of us from bailing out after all these years with cable.

The classic answer: "It's the money stupid."

Doing what's really right and necessary looses out to profit.
