Completely uninstall Silverlight from your computer. Then download and install Silverlight from the link below:

This is a patched version that fixes most video playback issues and gets you out of the "Please install/upgrade Silverlight" loop.

Follow all the on-screen instructions and then try playing videos again. Let me know the results.

Try using a different web browser and let me know if it works. This is not a permanent solution but it will help us narrow down your issue.

There is something in your IE9 that is preventing videos from playing.

Are you using 64-bit or 32-bit version of IE9?

Re: Upgrade your Xfinity Player

Tried 32 and 64 bit ie, same thing.  An example, when trying to watch Dexter I was able to watch S07E01, E03 and E07, but unable to watch the rest of the episodes, had the same thing happen to other series.

This is what I received when trying to watch them.  Doesn't make sense to be able to watch some episodes of a series and not the rest.

Your computer is 64-bit and Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installed is needed to view Silverlight videos in IE9. Please see this chart for more details:

Re: Upgrade your Xfinity Player

Running Vista. Xfinity player no good with IE. Limited with FireFox and causes crashes. This has been ongoing for far too many people, far too long. Xfinity upgrade won't work Something's incompatible with the programming. Try troubleshooting adobe/macromedia flash for starters. Just Get er Done already. Or pro-rate your customers for lack of being able to get us a workaround for a paid service. I.T. pro's/programmers must really be at a premium nowadays. We can always go to youtube, etc., but that's not the point. PLEASE HELP one way or another. XP and other OS work OK[not great but they work at least]. This came on when Comcast upgraded their system[degraded].

Re: Upgrade your Xfinity Player

Did that too. Firefox works most the time. IE a no-go. Running IE9 with Vista...not the IE6 that Comcast has seemingly now dropped since THEIR upgrade.

Re: Upgrade your Xfinity Player

Thanks for the reply. Just downloaded/installed the latest MS updates[9 in all ] Don't know which one helped but for now it's finally working. The updates included IE9, .NET Framework 2 and 4, among others that were released today. They seemed to also help speed loading times as well.
