I had Verizon FIOS up till a few months ago, when we moved to a community that only had Comcast available. There were both good and bad aspects to the switch. For one, Comcast's On Demand has more content and is much easier to navigate, IMO. My husband never figured out the FIOS On Demand navigation, but he figured out Comcast's pretty quickly.

 

There is one glaring difference that is not in Comcast's favor.

 

A few months before we moved, Verizon introduced an iOS app that streamed many cable non-premium networks like BBC America, Lifetime, Discovery, History, etc. Yes, live streaming.

 

I really thought, based on commercials that I had seen, that Comcast already had this functionality in their apps. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see that this is the case. So, why is Comcast not offering this to their customers as well?

We do have an iOS app for video playback. It is called the XFINITY TV Player App. Here is a link to it in the iTunes Store:

I have that, and it's not a bad app, but it doesn't offer the live streaming, right?

As of right now, no live streaming is available on the XFINITY TV Player App.

 

We do offer a service called AnyPlay that allows you to watch live TV on your iOS device through your Wi-Fi connection.
