Re: no sound when mirroring with hdmi cable

I have the same exact problem. Used to work fine and now both of my computers (both MacBooks) have no sound coming from the TV (tried this on multiple TVs) when hooked via HDMI and running the Comcast Xfinity app (and HBOGo) but it works perfectly fine on YouTube and when I play sound effects through the TV. The TVs show up under Sound options but the sound doesn't play on the app. I'm wondering if this is a new control Comcast and HBO have placed on their apps to prevent people from playing cable from their non-home TVs.....

This is a known issue with the Adobe Flash version 27.0. Comcast contacted Adobe and this will be fixed in Adobe Flash's next release.

Below are some troubleshooting steps to try in the interim before an update is released.

Problem: No Audio when connected to HDMI Cable (Happening with Adobe Flash version 27.0)

Solution:

  1. Go to https://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager08.html
  2. Click “Reset Flash License Files” button
  3. Clear browser cookies & cache
  4. Quit the browser
  5. Re-launch and login to the App

  • Load the app and login

Safari:

  • Click ‘Clear History’
  • Select ‘All History’
  • Click ‘Clear History’ button

Re: no sound when mirroring with hdmi cable

That does work once on my Mac. However it then continues to default to whatever the original sound destination.

Not a good long term solution.

Re: no sound when mirroring with hdmi cable

Actually, I should be more specific about that.

By default, I mean the sound destination when it was first run after the above procedure.

There is no ability to change sound output on the fly.

The only way you can change it, in my case, is to run the procedure again.
