New stream app

I was anxiously awaiting the new app launch only to be disappointed. I've tried , unsuccessfully, to connect my iPad to my TV to watch content saved on my home dvr. Every time I've tried I receive a message (code 3338, I believe) that tells me I need to disconnect my external devices to watch my shows. I'm tired of watching my DVD programs on a tiny screen! Other apps, HBO GO, Netflix work seemlessly and don't have this issue.  This app is the worst one I've used, bar none. Something as simple as this should have been corrected long before this nonevent of the a new app launch.

Sorry you are disappointed and frustrated. AirPlay, GoogleCast and HDMI connections from mobile devices to external displays are not allowed due to contractual restrictions from programmers. We are currently offering a public beta test version of XFINITY Stream (XFINITY TV) app for Roku (if you happen to have a Roku).

 

Another (unofficial) option is to connect a PC/Mac computer to your television and watch via xfinity.com/stream (there's not way to block external displays on computers, unlike mobile devices).

Whats it take to get a Comcast Employee to comment on my feed out the Stream App and how I cannot watch any of my recorded shows on my phone because I get a SERVER ERROR::8001 and if I try to download a recorded show to my phone it says METADATA FAILURE. both of them say cannot find recording or failure of SERVER.

I'm sorry you're having this trouble. That sounds like corrupted Cloud DVR recordings. If you experience the same (or very similar) errors on the web portal, it will confirm this hypothesis.  Try https://tv.xfinity.com on a PC/Mac and compare to the mobile app (iOS or Android) to see if those recordings will play. If not, it means they are bad/corrupted and will never play properly, unfortunately. Cloud DVR recordings are separate from those on your physical DVR. 

 

If this happens consistently for all your recordings, you should open a support ticket by calling 800-XFINITY. I don't work in customer service or support (despite me being here in the forums) so don't have access to the systems needed to open tickets.

Some work every now and then . I usually get on to work then after that show next show I try doesn't. Then say the next day the one that didn't work all of a sudden it works.

Thanks for the additional info. Usually, with corrupted Cloud DVR recordings, they will never work once the original recordings has been messed up. You seem to be saying that the recording won't work one day and will the next - which is counter to my hypothesis which may point to some other issue.  Are you sure that when they start to work, you aren't playing On Demand instead of the recording?

Yes I am sure it's not the on demand. I was just on the phone with a Specialist for 2 hours today and they couldn't fix a thing. I had a bunch working 2 hours ago and now none of them are working. Why would you update a app that was working completely fine. Update said it was to make the experience better on menus and features but nothing even changed besides corrupting my cloud and other users. Only thing that changes was the icon and what the color template on menus. I'm paying for this service yet I can't use it . What a joke.

I have my DVR shows showing up in the app but it's useless. They pause like every 5 seconds or so, it's very annoying and unwatchable.

No longer get the Errors but I go to play a show on my app only shows 15 minutes recorded now instead of the full hour. Dumbest thing is that tv go on demand only works on home network. Why the he'll would I watch on demand on my phone from home when I can watch it on my 65 inch tv stupid app.
