The app works ok on my Adroid devices. However still missling the "favorites" option which IMO makes the guide fairly useless. I know it is supposedly coming but so was the Roku app that was supposed to be here this fall. Don't expect to see the favoites option or the Roku app anytime soon.

With my bill increasing another $7 this moth after a $25 increase last month it is looking more likely that it's time to find an alternative for TV service.

Sorry you're having trouble. Do you have a non-standard DNS (domain name service) setting by any chance?  Are you able to try from another browser? If you have a mobile phone, it'd be interesting to know if you can access https://tv.xfinity.com from there on cellular or wifi (you'll get a roadblock but that means you got to the website at least).

-ComcastDan

No I am just using the standard DNS settings provided by the DHCP server through the Comcast gateway.  I am using a Comcast installed Cisco DPC3939 gateway.

I have tried Chrome, Firefox, Edge & Opera browsers on my windows 10 PC and on each the https://tv.xfinity.com portal connection times out after about 15 seconds.

Of course when I try the https://tv.xfinity.com portal on an Android device using a standard browser such as Chrome or Firefox it asks to launch the Android app. When I try to request the desktop version of https://tv.xfinity.com on an android device in a browser that supports flash such as Puffin, it just shows the message  "Xfinity  Now connecting to your entertainment experience"  but the page never loads. The Android app does connect and works fine. Just can't get the portal to load on my Windows 10 PC.

Interesting. If your Android device gets to the mobile roadblock page, then it is successfully connecting to tv.xfinity.com. I assume you are doing this while connected to your home network. Does your Android device offer hotspot capabilities (i.e. Can you connect to the Internet on your PC by using its connection)? That would help isolate if it is your home network or the PC or its settings.

I will give that a try when i have some more free time later. I will reply back with the results. Any idea why the xfinity tv portal would be the only site that would be experiencing these connection issues on the PC? I am not having these issues with any other site. There are no sites being blocked by the firewall in the gateway settings. I had disabled my Internet security software as well, but something is still supposedly blocking the connection. Just trying to figure out why it would be only that site that is experiencing this issue.

Frankly, I have no idea but happy to keep troubleshooting with you. PM me if I miss your response here. Again, sorry.

Re: UPDATE: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

Try entering the ip address rather than URL and see what that does. Will rule out DNS issues.

I don't have the IPV4 but the IPV6 is :    2001:558:fe0d:34::2

Maybe Dan has the IPV4 since you may and may not be IPV6 enabled.

Thanks for testing this. It seems to confirm that the issue is with your computer's SSL settings. I'm surprised you don't experience issues on other sites requiring SSL such as your bank, etc.. Googling that error message returned some troubleshooting tips:

http://www.deskdecode.com/err_ssl_version_or_cipher_mismatch/

If that doesn't solve the issue, I can reach out to our engineers on Tuesday when we're back in the office and see if they have ideas. This is the first time I've encountered this particular error but there may be others I'm not aware of.

Best,
Dan

Dan,

I tried all the suggestions on the website you linked to however I am still unable to connect to https//tv.xfinity.com . I haven't had any issues with any other sites including many that also require SSL.

A couple of times I was able to get the portal to load by resetting my gateway without rebooting the PC. The portal will then load in Chrome ( it still will not load in any other browser) however no content will play. All I get is the continuous 3 dot loading animation.

I will continue to troubleshoot to see if I can figure something out.

Thanks

Re: UPDATE: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

I reset my gateway. After a few minutes of trying I was able to get the https://tv.xfinty.com portal to load.  From the guide I attempted to watch channel 36 which is Lifetime. The content was unable to play and here is the error diagnostic info shown in the Chrome browser

Seeing this error message/code helped direct me to an old thread where I found my solution.

http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-TV-Website/error-900-102100/m-p/2705790#M43245

I had to uncheck/disable ipv6 in my network adaptor settings. Seems as though using ipv6 was causing my problem. I will have to just use ipv4 for now. The https://tv.xfinity.com portal is working great now.

Thanks to noelpeace for his solution and to ComcastDan & everyone else who helped me troubleshoot my issue.

I'm glad you re working, but you should not have to turn off IPV 6 to work and one day you will want that feature. So, in my opinion, that's just another clue but not root cause of the problem. As you can see from my post above, I can access with IPV 6 on.

Bob,

Yes, I am not sure why having ipv6 enabled works perfecly fine for some people but for others it causes issues with the xfinity tv portal. If anyone could give an explantion as to why this is occuring then that would be helpful. For now I can re-enable ipv6 anytime I need to since the only site that I have used so far that doesn't seem to work well with it has been the xfinity tv portal.

Re: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

The last couple of days all I get at the TV Listings site is music channels.  (the 900 series).  I have no idea what they did with the regular channels.

I have had enough of the slow ponderous site that is xfinity.

I went over to tvguide.com, and guess what?  You can save your favorite channels, and bookmark the page, and no more xfinity headache.

When I have ipv6 enabled I get a 10/10 score on that test site as well. However with ipv6 enabled when I try to load https://tv.xfinity.com it times out. When I disable ipv6 and use ipv4 the https://tv.xfinity.com site works perfectly. So not sure what is causing the issue with ipv6 on that specific site.

I tried a suggestion that I read on another site and uninstalled the driver for my network adapter. Rebooted, let it reinstall and then tried  https://tv.xfinity.com with ipv6 enabled and now the site works fine. The driver is the same version as before but uninstalling and reinstalling it fixed my ipv6 issue with the Xfinity TV site.

TVGO app

I was very sorry to find out that comcast was retiring the TVGO app for older android devices,. I have several android 4.0 devices that remain fully functioing in everyway ecept that I can no longer watch live tv on them even when i pay a small fortune every month for cable. As a longtime triple play customer I cannot understand why you could not have left the old app fuctioning as well as the new app with new features for folks that feel the need to have up to date devices. I am very disatisfied over this.

moved your post to the mega tvgo thread.

The TVgo app is retired from service. The new app to use is xfinity TV. Have you tried that app? does it load? Ice Cream (4.0) is pretty old, did you see if the device offers android update?

Re: UPDATE: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

10-06-2016:  Xfinity Go Portal on a PC has a  long load time and presents repeated queries to sign in (should be able to stay signed in).  To date, there is no Windows 10 XfinityGo App, so access is via the Xfinity website.  The prior TV Listings grid was a useful tool to schedule TV channels / shows for recording.  However, the current XFINITY TV | TV LISTINGS presents a terrible interface for the end-user:
--Slow loading time for the grid
--No option to simply view favorite channels requires scrolling through a multitude of channels
--No option to view listings grid in a 3 hour timeframe; can only be viewed in a 2 hour timeframe
--Multiple clicks to finally get to the menu for modifying recording times
--Does not work on a Windows 10 Phone i.e. Lumia 950

11-30-2016:  It is now approximately 2 months since this post and Comcast has yet to implement necessary iterative changes to their problematic website 'tv.xfinity.com/listings'.  Comcast, how about giving your customers an update on your progress?

FINALLY, the XFINITY® TV | TV Listings website has added a few iterative changes: 3 hour grid view, as well as, the ability to view only your Favorite Channels via the Filter button.

Re: Live streaming, On Demand and DVR access via https://tv.xfinity.com/

I go to this site every week, looking for evidence that Comcast has implemented the Web TV guide again.   I did get an e-mail once implying that Comcast would do that, but then nothing.

Wow, I am really pleased to see an expanded viewing window as well as the return to favorites.  Good job, Comcast!  One more now, what about "new" and "repeat" labels?  When I hold my cursor over a show title, a box pops up with the title and the time of the program.  We are already aware of this info.  Could this feature be used to let us know if the program is a new showing or a repeat?  And please bring back black lettering on a white background.

i'm probably in the wrong place but i'm tired of trying to find the right place. i've always been able to watch tv on both my desktop and my nextbook. i tried to watch tv last night on my nextbook and all i get is "available in home only". i am in my home. i haven't changed anything. i'd e-mail comcast but if you ever do find an e-mail addy, it seems all you ever get is "you have contacted the wrong department" or "we'll pass your complaint on". and it ends there. i' not going to call them because by the time i go through the being transferred through 47 brain dead "support personnel", my blood pressure is at dangerously high levels. so i guess i'll just chalk it up to one more reason i hate comcast. thank you for letting me vent.

you might want to check your laptop's wifi settings to be sure it is connected to your 'home' SSID name radio as any other will cause that 'out of home' message. If you have a smart device that works you can check the wifi that it is connected to and verify that the home's laptop is connected to that working (on the smart device) SSID.

example: your tablet is connected to "HOME-xxxx" format SSID or if you have your own router the SSID you selected when setting it up. If you connect to an SSID of xfinitywifi it will cause the app to believe you are outside of the home (not on your home network).

Re: TVGO app

So what has happened lately to the watchlist? Seems that Comcast cannot tell that Favorites and WatchList serve two different functions. I want to knopw which of the shows I follow have episodes I missed and click and watch. A long time ago someone one from Comcast said October 20th. Uhuh.

Is this coming back or have you permanently not only criplled the application but made it slower and less useful in Flash?

Bitter? Just a little.

We're aware of the difference between Watchlist and Favorite Channels. Watchlist is in development and will be available in an upcoming release.

The website is developed in HTML5 using Polymer Web Components. Flash is required for content protection (digital rights management) via Adobe Primetime DRM. The reason it may appear slower is that it is a highly dynamic single-page web application as opposed to a traditional website with pre-rendered pages (i.e. the live TV listings and On Demand choices are customized to only show the content that is included in each customer's subscription). The technical team is continually optimizing performance and made significant reductions in load times and page performance over the last several months.

Re: TVGO app

Having to use the website on my Surface Pro 4 is a sub prime experience. I would prefer to use an App built for Windows 10. If you build a new Windows 10 app then it will not only work on my Surface Pro 4 but also my Xbox One! Please provide an ETA for a new Windows 10 app. Thanks!

Re: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

I rarely complain and I'm so happy with how I much pay a month and my X1 experience so far since having it for almost a year.

But I have not been able to watch anything be it my DVR recordings or network channels on my MacBook Pro since Comcast / Xfinity team are still requiring the obsolete / battery hogging Adobe Flash plug- in instead of a vastly superior HTML5 player.

I'm sure it has to do with content protection which media companies have enforced to prevent piracy but Netflix has and Hulu adopted HTML5 player recently.

I guess I'll wait a few more years for Xfinity to adopt the HTML5 player. It's getting harder to sit in front of my TV as I'm always on the go and use my MacBook Pro a lot. And I refuse to install a plagued plug-in which even Adobe is abandoning. Plus, I use my DVR recordings and On Demand to catch up on a lot of shows *sighs*

Please consider HTML5 player sometime soon. Thanks.

the Xfinity TVGo app was decommissioned months ago. Do you mean the TV app (now renamed the Xfinity Stream app)? Are you accessing via a smart device (iOS or Android) or via a PC's browser?

Re: Announcement and feedback thread : TV Go is now part of Xfinity TV Online portal

Obviously the Tv app and now the Stream App doesn't work either. Using Android. Didn't have a problem up until 2 weeks ago when they put a notice on app saying they were switching to Stream App on the 28th. I get SERVER ERROR::8001 . IF I try to download a recording to the phone i says Metadata Failure or ERROR. IF I get lucky a recording might play. Out of 35 recordings I have only one show works when I hit watch. Like I said been using these apps for 2 years no issue until 2 weeks ago. I used this app 5 days a week while on break on my job.

if you are using a vpn turn it off. If you are using an add-blocker that uses a proxy turn it off. does that let it work? if you have manually set a DNS and are not using the DNS server from Comcast update the dns servers to Comcast dns servers.

I don't have any of the things on your post set differently then I have for the last 2 years. It worked for 3 hours one night then went to watch another show a hour later and all I would get was this error.

how to control tv from my laptop to watch show

Before you changed your online web page to this new one, I could save my favrite movies and shows and I could choose one and from my computer play it on my tv, I cant find that feature anymore. Is that feature gone? If not please tell me how to save shows and movies so I can play them on my TV like I could before.

moved your post to the appropriate super thread. That feature on the web page was removed. The function can be done via an android or iOS smart device using the Xfinity TV Remote app. If you read the first post on page one of this thread it will detail the changes.

Yeah thats nice.  So now I want to shut off a loud TV in a room where someone is sleeping and instead of just going to the website.  I have to get an android phone.  Download an app.  And, hope the app works (which it probably does not like most apps).

Re: Where is my WatchList?

They pulled this horrible move on the website quite some time ago.  Now they pull TV GO support too.  It's crystal clear their goal is to get people to stop streaming their content through inconvenience.
