Access to all online content blocked via Flash update

Access to all online content blocked via Flash update

A couple weeks ago my access to all Xfinity TV online content was blocked

this message is displayed when I try to view something:

The minimum required version of Flash for this video is 11.8.0. Your current version is 11.2.202

When I click the update link, it takes me to the Adobe site, which

offers me the newest version available for my system..

which is 11.2.202  I have already installed this update

Xfinity has managed to cut off a significant percent of their customers

by blocking access to all online videos via Flash Update. I assure

you my computer plays other forms of online TV just fine.

I use my laptoptop to power a Sony superbright series projector,

and it works great with sites like Adult Swim, and had previously

worked with Xfinity, untill they straight up blocked their content

Browser: Firefox 33.1 (up to date)

Platform: Kanotix Hellfire, KDE on Debian Linux

Linux acconts for 5.5 percent of the operating systems

online. Its nice that Xfinity just decided to screw us for

the sake of the other 94.5 percent which includes a mere

9.5 percent of MAC systems

Thanks Xfinity!

Re: Access to all online content blocked via Flash update

I am guessing your running Leopard 10.5 which Adobe flash stopped supporting at ver 11.2.202.  The newer version Flash will need Snow Leopard 10.6 or newer.  This is a decision by Adobe to stop Flash updates on older operating systems and affects more than just Comcast videos.

I believe the only support for Linux these days is to use Google Chrome with Pepper based Flash so try and download it and give it a try.

Re: Access to all online content blocked via Flash update

Ill try google Crome but I believe the latest version available for linux is 11.2

there is no 11.8 .tar file for Linux on the Adobe website

It seems Xfinity has cut off all Linux users from their online content

Badpaw:

This page on Adobe's website http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ lists Chrome as being available for Linux with the latest version of Flash 15.0.0.223 built in i.e. Pepper based Flash. So you should be able to download Chrome for Linux from Google's site that includes this latest version and that should allow you to watch whatever you'd like.
