The last time a technician was here to diagnose/fix the pixellation and freezing problem, he found that the cable leading to one of my TVs had a lot of noise in it.  Rather than replace the cable, he suggested we install the new Xi5 wireless TV box when it becomes available.  Is it available?  If so, how to I acquire one?

Check your local service center for availability

hsgoddard, In order to receive an Xi5 device, you must be a new X1 install.

We are working diligently to make Wireless TV Boxes available via Self Installation Kits later in 2017.

I do want to address the pixelation and freezing problem, however. Are you still experiencing those issues? If so, I'd like to send another tech out to replace your cabling as necessary.

I need two wireless boxes for 2 different rooms in my house.  I was looking to to make the move from directv to comcast so i could package it with my internet.  The sales rep told me all wireless Xi5 boxes were on hold she wasnt sure when they would come off hold.  Maybe not even before the new year.  Is this true or only true for my area?  I am in zip code 07076.  I am dying to switch but really need these boxes.  Anyone have any idea when I can get my hands on these?

the wireless set top boxes are companion boxes that work by having a special rented Comcast gateway (wireless router/modem combo) and another in-home regular set top box (HD or DVR). you could use Roku sticks during the beta program for 'free' until you acquire the wireless companion set top boxes, as an alternative.

My Xi5 boxes will not work.  They worked briefly after the tech left but now the lights blink but nothing further happens.  I have tried refreshing and rebooting but nothing happens. Also they run hot to the touch as there is no grill to allow heat to escape. I'm waiting for a tech but could not get an appointment until next week.  I much prefer the HD Digital adapters but then there is no compatability with the X1 box. The tech originally tried to used the "hard wired" companion boxes but said that the signal was not strong enough? Go figure.

It needs to be on in order for Xi5 to function.

no, just has MoCA turned off. See this link for information on how to turn on the MoCA bridge in the router. http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/X1/New-x1-cable-boxes-installed-one-of-them-not-showing-dvr/m-p/2493248...
