XFINITY TV Partner Program

Last year, Comcast launched the Xfinity TV Partner Program to expand the range of retail devices Xfinity TV customers can use to access the programming that is included with their subscription. The Xfinity TV Partner Program leverages open standard HTML5 technology, providing a common framework for smart TV, TV-connected and IP-enabled retail device manufacturers to develop an Xfinity TV Partner app for their devices. All content within the Xfinity TV Partner app is delivered over Comcast’s secure private managed network, enabling customers to access and enjoy their cable service on devices like Sony Android TVs, without the need to lease a traditional set-top box from Comcast.

Comcast and Sony announced that Xfinity TV customers will soon be able to access their cable service via the Xfinity TV Partner app on Sony’s Android TVs. Beginning in 2018, Xfinity TV customers with Sony’s Android TVs will be able to enjoy live and on demand programming, including local broadcast and Public Educational and Governmental channels, as well as their cloud DVR recordings via the Xfinity TV Partner app. They will also enjoy the seamless design and rich programming data of the Emmy Award-winning X1 guide.

In addition to the Xfinity TV Partner app, Comcast continues to support multiple ways for customers to access their Xfinity cable service on a variety of third-party devices:

  • Xfinity TV apps for iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets
  • On the web, customers can watch content via http://xtv.comcast.net on PCs and laptops with supported browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari
  • Retail CableCARD-enabled devices allow customers to lease a CableCARD from Comcast for installation in compatible devices

Re: XFINITY TV Partner Program

As of now it is slated to work the same way the Roku Beta works. So as of now, customers will not pay equipment charges with respect to their use of these devices. All other fees associated with a customer's service will apply, except that, during the Beta trial, Service to Additional TV charges for services to outlets connected to these devices are being waived. On conclusion of the trial, you will be informed of the charges that will apply for connecting this device with your XFINITY TV service and will have the opportunity to opt in.

If this information changes we will be sure to post those updates here.
